Hello all,

We've had mixed opinions about redesigning the RTU vehicles.

I started out with the Mercedes SL65, since that is the most iconic and has been here for the longest time from that lineup of cars.

Please leave your thoughts on which design is your favorite. It would be applied in a similar fashion to all RTU vehicles

Feedback about the designs is also welcome!

Both the Hi-Vis and Command Blue cars have an illumination layer, which can change the brightness of those stripes.

I'm sharing my two cents on this, so feel free to share your own thoughts.

Personally, I don't believe brighter liveries are a good idea for the following reason:
  • Too noticeable.
Ideally, when conducting speed traps or other forms of traffic enforcement, outside of pursuits and routine patrols, you want your vehicle to be as inconspicuous as possible. My concern is that brighter colours, particularly white, would make RTU vehicles stand out like a sore thumb.

This would make it easier for drivers to spot RTU units from a greater distance, allowing them to adjust their driving before reaching the officers. As a result, we could see a noticeable reduction in traffic violations being caught, which would ultimately limit the effectiveness of RTU and reduce the number of opportunities for traffic enforcement.

However whats stopping people from choosing between the lot?
Adding a new RTU vehicle at any point would mean having to support 3 different styles. And any changes that would be needed would need to be applied to 3 different variants. And as any work with skins, it's painful to get it just right.

The general idea here is also that these vehicles stand on the roads a lot. Mostly at RTCs. So they should be visible.

That's what unmarked vehicles are for. Besides.. with the new static speed cameras, drivers typically see the flash before they see the police car. If you do the classic speed trap, considering the render distance, they don't really have time to slow down before you have already measured their speed.

I honestly don't even know what it looked like before.

For everyone who voted the default skin: We're still looking for ways to improve visibility on the RTU cars. Do you have suggestions as to what you'd like to see? Any feedback would be incredibly helpful.

I'm trying to track down an image of it, but it looked really nice. I think adding high vis but not making it super dominant might not be terrible. I honestly kinda think it would be cool if RTU cars were generally less visible, especially now that they have the more complex matrix signs. Adding the lights to the underside like the undercover cars have though might not be terrible for when they're on fend-offs.
