Update Log 19/10/26
Halloween | New Props | Drug Improvements | Police Changes | Much More!

It's that spooky time of year again, where a cold chill blows over Paralake, and things don't feel quite the same. It's Halloween on PERPHEADS! This update introduces all the Halloween experiences you're used to from us, and some brand new ones too! On top of this there is a whole host of regular update changes to enjoy, ranging from new props to improved weapon attachments, from an employee of the week system, to improvements to the phone and general UI. Let's get into the changes, starting with...

Halloween
@Fredy @Lelios1 @Jyrgen @peeps
Halloween has been enabled from now until the end of the month. With it brings the usual pumpkin growing, costumes and potions! This year you will also notice some additional features, such as the new Baby Pumpkins. Craft them with 2 Jack-O'-Lanterns and some Pumpkin Seeds, and receive a random Baby Pumpkin. There are 16 different colors to collect, as well as a rare Golden Baby Pumpkin!

As well as the cute little Baby Pumpkin, we are also giving out a set of Halloween inspired banners, a customizable Gravestone with your name on it (and two to give away), and this cute little figure (available from the Halloween NPC by Creepy Tree). You can also dig up some past Halloween collectables as well as the new Ceramic and Bronze Pumpkins!

Of course, there is also the upcoming Patient Zero event. We will have more information on that soon, so stay tuned...

UI Updates
@peeps
Before we get into the fun stuff, one of the biggest changes you will notice is that some of the user interfaces have had either minor, or major updates, improving readability, and bringing things up to a more modern style.

HUD Changes
The Half-Life 2 weapon switcher has been replaced with a new custom switcher. Functionally this is identical, down to using the same sounds, just with unimportant information such as the unused icon slots, and SWEP information removed. Like with most of the updates to UI today, colors from your chosen UI theme are used as accents, so you're able to much further customize your experience. The new switcher also denotes which items you are holding are illegal (with a red line), and items which will drop on death (with a yellow line).

The old Radial Menu (seen for the emote wheel, buddy wheel, unit menu etc...) has also been completely rebuilt, now supporting folders, and in the case of emotes, favourites! This new wheel works similar to before but with a cursor instead of a directional selector. Pressing F allows you to favourite/unfavourite an item. It has also allowed us to add a new moods and reactions system which we will touch on shortly. Job HUDs have also been updated to be more clear, providing the information you need at a glance. This update also extends to progress bars which now use your UI skin's accent color.

F1 Menu Updates
The F1 Menu has received some small updates, with the Progress Tab and Crafting menu's being moved to the first 2 spots, and the Store also being added (!store will still work). The crafting menu has received a new Grid View to better see what items are available to craft, and the Store has received a bunch of Quality of Life improvements such as grouping similar items together, allowing you to see which props the Skin Changer Tool works on, and denoting when an item is new or limited time (we will get to that shortly too).

Keyboard Hints
Finally, a new Simplified mode has been added to the keyboard hints option in the F1 Menu. These provide context based keyboard hint information, whilst hiding the very basic controls.

Furniture Changes
@peeps
This update brings with it some new furniture designed to help you with your shops and builds, as well as a few changes to existing props and furniture. To start off, 3 new crafting materials have been added: Cloth, Rubber, and Wire. These are not only being used on the new furniture, but also have been added to the mixtures for existing items (thought the overall price has not changed). An example of this is bandages now needing cloth instead of paper towels.

New Furniture
The new furniture ranges over several styles, and all new props are compatible with the Skin Changer Tool. In the case of the new Hanging Shelves, these are designed to fit perfectly in the Bazaar Shop windows. A full list of the new furniture is below:
  • Modular Wall
  • Weapon Rack
  • Frutiger Sofa
  • Frutiger Pillow
  • Frutiger Counter
  • Frutiger Desk
  • Frutiger Lamp
  • Frutiger Corner Shelf
  • Frutiger Pillar
  • Industrial Pillar
  • Industrial Lamp
  • Wooden Paneling
  • Corner Shelf
  • Hanging Shelves

Other Prop Changes
Some existing props have also been changed. The bookshelf now uses the modern model from the map, randomizing the book placement when dropped (its penetration level is the same for those of you who use them in base defenses). As well as this, the Wood Burner is now a lamp, and the Fire Barrel can now be ignited.

Weapon Features
@Bolli
Functionality has been added to some previously useless weapon attachments. Flashlights attached to a weapon casts a brighter beam of light than your regular flashlight. The laser attachment now also has a purpose, shining a laser wherever you are looking. As well as this, you can now use weapons while sitting down, as well as get shot while sat down (except if you are AFK).

Other weapon changes:
  • Added muzzle flashes when a weapon is not silenced
  • Sync 3rd person reload speed to the 1st person animation speed
  • Play the correct reload animation to other players
  • Play reload sounds for other players when reloading

Drug Improvements
@StephenPuffs
  • Temperature now raises/lowers slightly faster.
  • Heroin now uses Toluene or Acetone instead of Muriatic Acid.
  • Meth can no longer immediately explode if you go above the temperature limit, instead now catching fire.
  • When a substance catches fire it can be put out with a fire extinguisher or fire hose.
  • If the substance does explode, you no longer lose the table and everything with it, only the beaker gets lost. The explosion effect has been reworked to make it less likely to cause instant death, now just injuring you and causing bleeding.
  • All drugs cook consistently above their cook temperature, and so can be left idle. Pushing the temperature closer to the burn level will cause them to cook faster but increases the risk of catching fire and exploding.
  • Cooking in a sauce pan above the burn temperature will first reduce the quality of the drugs, but will catch fire if the quality drops too low. Like meth it will eventually explode, but just into a fireball which can ignite nearby players and props. If this happens you only lose the drugs, not the sauce pan.

Employee of the Week
@Fredy
Those who get the most job XP in a given week will have their photo placed on the wall as the Employee of the Week. For non-XP based jobs (Taxi, Police Officer and Dispatcher) employee of the week is given to the player with the most playtime in that specific job.

Phone Improvements
@Bolli @peeps @Fredy
The phone sees another set of improvements with this update, focusing on general use, the Dark Web app, the Camera app and Tooter.

Dark Web App

The Dark Web app has seen the most significant changes, with the Drug Dealer now being moved into the new Chats tab. Interaction with the dealer has also been simplified, with predefined prompts. This includes an easier way to join/manage a bank robbery. Simply invite members of your org or players on your buddy list through the app and you're good to go.

Airdrop notifications now also occur through the dark web app, instead of in org chat. As well as this, the graph for drug yields now goes below 1.00x.

Push Notifications
Receiving a notification from Messages, Tooter, or the Dark Web app, will now pop the phone up slightly to show you the notification. To add to this, receiving a notification or phone call while using the phone will give you a drop down push notification. Finally, the phone now dips to half height when in TeamSpeak or on a phone call. You can also now use other apps while on a phone call.

Moods and Reactions
@Bolli
You may have noticed two extra options on the emote wheel shown earlier. These are for the new Moods and Reactions, or in simpler terms, emotes for your face! Moods change the emotional state of your face until you set it to something else, and reactions are quick emotional states lasting only a few seconds.

Considering you can now use firearms when sat down on chair/bench. Can u make it so you can sit down with a gun in ur hand too? Need to go unarmed to sit down before switching back to gun

So meth and heroin didnt get a buff in terms of better hourly pay in comparison to coke and weed?

Thought fredy spoke about adding that

(but still cool update)

I believe the problem with heroin and meth is not the compensation, but rather that it's annoying to make. We will make some more adjustments in the future but they did not make it into _this_ update.
