Is this a new law or a change to a current law: A change to an existing law

What law do you wish to change/add:
Old:
1663940289460.png
New:
"Any person who display an offensive weapon in a public setting commits an offence, unless they are within the confines of private property with full permission from the owner of said private property."

Why should this change/addition be made: The current gun laws in Paralake are extremely lenient, allowing the free manufacturing and purchase of Class 2 weapons without any kinds of licenses, what this means is that the usage of said weapons is also permitted in self- defence so a displayal of a gun in ones own property should not cause any trouble since weapons are being publicly displayed on peoples shops and in the newspaper adverts. Furthermore, a problem occurs when citizens are forced to block their windows so their weapon is not being seen by anybody which instantly makes them a target to criminals.

What is the aim of this change/addition: The aim of this change is to prevent senseless tickets being handed around at the Bazaar area, where hard working gun dealers and customers get fined for their weapons and to prevent senseless raids based on the displayal of a Class 2 weapon, which by law is not illegal.

Better wording would be: "Any person who display an offensive weapon in a public setting commits an offence, unless they are within the confines of private property with full permission from the owner of said private property."

The law here only refers to "Displayal" as actively holding, but the wording is shit. A 7.5 violation would mean you held the weapon in public without a lawful reason to do so.

It should remain illegal to brandish a weapon in your hands anywhere in a public setting without due cause (such as about to sell it, just bought it, section 2, etc.).

I also believe it should remain illegal to display a rifle or shotgun on your back in a public setting without the aforementioned due cause, however, to a lesser extent than it is currently, as right now there is no distinction between pointing a weapon in a public area and having a shotgun on your back for a few seconds to deter criminals.

This could either be done by splitting the law into two (7.5 Displayal of Offensive Weapons, 7.6 Brandishing Offensive Weapons) which is not optimal, or just lessening the punishment overall from a felony to something like:

Infraction - Liable to $2,000 fine and asset forfeiture

As if you were pointing a gun out in public with no reason, you would still be liable to a possession and possibly reckless endangerment charge.
(just my opinion)
