Suggestion Title: Add a way to tell if your mic is not outputting.
Suggestion Description: Either make the mic icon up top dim and then glow brighter when you talk or the 3 volume lines appear or disappear to show if your mic is outputting audio. Showing level of audio is abit too much work.

Why should this be added?:
- No more talking for 3 hours and nobody said they could hear you as your mic was folded up or off or not working.
- Not impeding server gameplay due to lack of communication. (I have been shot because my mic wasnt working and they thought i was being silent on purpose)

What negatives could this have?:
- Small sounds might either flash the icon or make it show false positives.

What problem would this suggestion solve?: Knowing if your mic is working or not as alot of people have this issue.

You can check this yourself in the steam overlay, since this is already possible via steam overlay I don't think we really need this as a feature but I will leave open to discussion

This is correct but I myself always have an output line visible on my 2nd monitor because my mic tends to not work anymore on Steam after I start a DAW or something else that needs exclusive mic access and I then forget to put it back after I close said program.
I think it would be very beneficial to have something like this or even a pop up in the bottom right that says you are attempting to speak but no audio is being recorded similar to what Discord does with their notification. If you are in the middle of a RP situation and it takes a while for, e.g. an Officer to realize your mic isn't working and telling you. I have personal experience of this and it can be very annoying if you just did the voice acting performance of your life and no one heard it! I'm not doing all that again!

Sindarin. A simple ingame feature would mean everyone has an easy way to tell all the time.

It also notifies if your mic stops working mid game which is one of the more common issues. Quite alot of people mic have died mid game vs died on join and this would let them know.

Just because a feature exists elsewhere doesn't mean there is no reason to add a better and easier to notice feature.

Yes, but it would be a nifty feature. Very rarely my default mic switches to a different one and I'll wonder why nobody is answering me.

Yes, you can check whether your mic works, but it would be great before you get yourself into an rp situation and shoot someone over the fact that they did not comply with your demands, when your audio wasn't working.

This also requires you to be aware that your microphone is not outputting correctly, as such a different colour if no mic output is detected when you speak or shows the volume of the output simular to rust's system would work best.

The server already sees a similar thing that you are able to see (the dot and brackets overhead while someone is speaking), so i guess it is not that complicated to show a crossed out speaker at the top instead of current one if theres no input at all. I guess this isn't that bad of an idea, as I have handled some IAs on officers who thought they were speaking, but werent really.
I personally dont see much downside to this

keeping it simple, have the speaker icon get brighter/dimmer with your mic volume when you speak. Good suggestion

The best way to compare this issue to a real life problem that got solved with a sensor - TPMS.

You should check your tyre pressure before driving
You check it few time, you stop. It's always good
One time not good
Car goes kaboom off road.

You put sensor in
You don't check, because you know it'll inform you
Tyre pressure gets low
You realize, you fix issue before it becomes big problem
Car no goes kaboom
