Suggestion Title: Ban AI generated images on signs / billboards
Suggestion Description: Ban AI generated images on signs / billboards

Why should this be added?:
- AI is incredibly cringe, harmful to the enviroment and detrimental to real artists. It shouldn't be allowed on the server. Wasting such gargatuan amounts of electricity to advertise your shitty gmod perpheads store is so wasteful!!!!!!

What negatives could this have?:
- Literally none.

What problem would this suggestion solve?: Me having to stroll through bazaar and see low effort shitty AI images on every sign.

Thank god I’m not the only one tired of AI slop :penguin: there of plenty of graphic designers and artists who play perp and take commissions in game for signs / etc.

If they aren’t going to straight up banned (they should), there should at least be a criteria that should be shared between Senior mods+ when deciding on whether to approve or deny an image request that is clearly AI generated.

Only negatives I could see is players possibly not having enough money to commission someone for a sign or an image, as well as more signs and images being denied because of bad quality / lack of creativity etc since they’re dependent on AI for decent quality.

AI is a fun and good tool to make quick and easy images. Even with allowing AI images, the players that make commissions will most likely keep making money if they are good at what they do as AI still has its many flaws and limitations. I think the current rules on whether or not something gets accepted is fine, if something is generally not helpful or of an increased quality, it will get denied.

Real talk: fuck AI.

I actually got so fed up of ai slop I made a huge ass blocklist to distribute on blue sky.

+1.

All joking aside lots of talented ppl in the community ask them to do it for some perp cash

I am against the idea of banning it outright.

However I do have to agree some of the stuff I'm surprised made the quality control of the mod who whitelisted it, some of it should be considered low effort.

We generally discourage obvious AI garbage on image frames, but a lot of the time, for people who want to advertise their in-game business or organisation, it's a much easier solution for them to generate some AI content of their choice and overlay a brand name. We do try to filter a lot of the real bad stuff and I generally blacklist a couple on each server visit, but not everyone has access to, or wants to use, image editing software

I have seen some incredibly bad stuff whitelisted, like just a picture of a real life fat black guy with grapes on instead of hair and just in-game screenshots that went trough a really stupid filter of some sort. It's fair to say it's +50% garbage

I think that it's ok to not be able to use image software, you can just commission someone who can to make a creative, fun sign for you.

Is the accessibility worth encouraging people to use AI generation? The impact it has societally and, more importantly, enviromentally, should not be endorsed by our community (in my opinion.) Let the human soul flourish! Creativity dies where AI lies!!!!!!

The desire to make things easier for players who may not have access to or experience with image editing tools is understandable. However, framing the use of AI generated content as a "much easier solution" sets a dangerous precedent, IMO. This ease comes at the cost of ethics, creativity, and respect for real artists, especially the ones that are in our community. After all, AI generated art is not created in a vacuum, but on the works of countless artists who never consented to having their work be scraped and used to train these models.

There are plenty of talented artists out there - even within our community - who would love the opportunity to take commissions on small projects such as some nice signs or billboards, and working with a real person brings out some level of.. uniqueness, intention, and a sense of community that AI simply can't replicate. I mean, what better way to bring parts of the community together than something like this, right?

We shouldn't compromise on artistic integrity and community values just because something is convenient.

Just set a standard among all images. Things that are a meme, poorly edited, bad use of AI shouldn't be allowed. I can't be bothered to make a sign for my shops, i'm not an artist. So I went on twitter and made grok do it for me in 5 seconds. I think its of fair quality, sure if you look at it you see imperfections but it gets the point across better than anything id ever make otherwise on paint

I don’t think banning AI images as a whole is fair on those who just want a quick and easy sign but reducing the amount of AI signs could be an idea, i mean finding anyway to limit it like making an accepted image category for AI images and Artistic images but making it limited to a certain amount of AI images on the server at a time.

I would like to propose that "its so quick and easy" is not considered a valid argument against this suggestion. Any other points are welcome.

Sorry my bad, il rephrase it. People who make AI imagery do not want or have the in game currency to pay on website like vaultcorp for a collage of signs. People have also charged for signs of upto 150k and so fourth, people do not always want to pay that much in game money to have signs done and do not have the artistic ability to make signs themselves. That’s why players use AI. and they also might not want to sit and spent hours drawing and designing signs when it’s “quick and easy” to make an AI sign because it saves their money and time.

Hence why i dont think it should be fully banned, yes okay people want to make signs and do sign commissions but not everyone else wants too, i think there should be a cap on AI imagery yes and not be as many signs around with it but banning it overall is gonna make it difficult for the people who want shops and don’t have the 600’000$ for vaultcorp signs or the money to pay for game commisions to have a somewhat okay sign
