Punishment Type: Ban
Appeal Type: Dispute
Which staff member issued the punishment?: Dank
How long were you banned/blacklisted for?: 1 Month

Your Steam Name: any name you wish
Your Roleplay Name: Ted Hastings
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:1:61037935

Why were you banned/blacklisted?: 1.4, 2.5, 2.6, 3.4 - User planned blowing up his own appartment with another user in totally excessive way and then let said user do the crime so he would not get banned knowing the crime to be excessive

Why should this appeal be considered?: Firstly 1.4, I'm not sure how this could possibly apply here as I simply did not cause any problems at all.

As for 2.5, you said that this action was excessive and not justifiable given the crime, however, Murtsley had just murdered someone in the eyes of the law and would've been imprisoned for 10 years and given a £10,000 fine due to the presence of a medic who would've uploaded DNA of the body and a warrant would likely have been set. If we had instead dragged the body out into the forest we would've undoubtedly been seen by the medic or potentially a police officer speeding up his arrest and not allowing us to escape at all.

As for 3.4, I have no idea how I risked my life here given I was standing on the bridge and the only reason I died was because @Dank abused his permissions and spawned in an AS50 to shoot me point blank (despite missing twice)

I did not think that this action was excessive whatsoever so felt no need to report @Murtsley to staff as you said I should've and because you banned me for 2.6. Murtsleys action was entirely justifiable given his previous crime and the fact no one else was in the apartment complex at the time. He even asked @Ellie how to start the fire and she teleported to him and still told him how to do it.

You can also see in the demo that the fire started was relatively small and achieved the desired effect by causing the body to burn, I'm unaware as to what happened after this but this could've easily been dealt with by the PLPD using fire extinguishers and caused no real problems for anyone. The only person who broke 3.4 here was Dank for AS50ing me for no reason and getting himself a warrant for 9.5.

Edit:

I just found out a police officer had managed to extinguish it using a fire extinguisher that they had already used on another fire and still had plenty left so clearly the fire wasn't that big and only achieved it's desired effect of removing DNA from the body. (@nutrient10)

You claim that @Murtsley killing Garry Dickens was murder, whatever the case, you had literally watched the police and the medic come and go without questioning yourself or Murtsley at all. You had nothing to gain from burning the body at that very moment and could have just as easily left it hidden in your apartment or moved it after the police and the medic left. By starting a fire in a public and inhabited apartment complex, especially when doing so did not benefit you hugely, nor did it outweigh the risk of an arson charge had you been caught, your actions were an unnecessary risk to your freedom and an entirely excessive response to the situation.

The above, when thought about properly, is an obvious violation of the rules. Whilst you did not throw the molotov cocktail, you actively encouraged this behaviour the entire time and made no attempt to intervene at any point, even providing the means for Murtsley to burn down the apartment. As such, you are equally to blame.

As for 1.4; it's entirely possible that the way you behaved throughout your time on the server that day was a direct attempt to cause problems within the community, however, we feel that the rule does not need to be applied here and it has thus been removed from your ban reason(s).

I find it largely ironic that you are attempting to dispute your punishment and manipulate your actions into something thought through and justified. Both you and your counterpart Murtsley were laughing throughout the whole ordeal, I am told that Murtsley even claimed in the admin sit that you burnt the body because "it was funny". Your actions were a plain nuisance to the staff that were online and were not humorous in the slightest. Your punishment reflects this.

If you are concerned with the way a Developer has behaved on the server, you are free to create a staff complaint.
