Why were you punished?: 2.5, 3.4 - User arrived at Tidals to the sound of crowbarring. Without further investigation- ran upstairs and shot the first person they saw, which sparked an entirely unnecessary shootout, killing one person and resulting in their own death.

Why should this appeal be considered?: I believe my ban should be reconsidered because the situation happened extremely quickly during what I believed was a counter-raid.

Me and some friends arrived at the location and immediately heard someone using a crowbar. I ran inside to see where the raid was happening, and when I reached the second floor, I saw a guy run past me with a large weapon fully out.

In a situation like that, I believe it is a natural human reaction to be on high alert and expect the people involved to be armed, especially when I had just heard a crowbar and then immediately saw someone running around with a large gun.

Shortly after, I saw another person near apartment 201 and reacted too quickly. I fired and accidentally hit him once in the shoulder. I understand that shooting before properly confirming whether he was armed was a mistake, and I take responsibility for that.

However, the important part is that as soon as I realized he was unarmed, I stopped shooting. I did not continue trying to kill him. Instead, I immediately tried to correct my mistake by putting him at gunpoint and telling him to put his hands up.

He did not listen to my commands, and shortly afterwards he pulled out a weapon while his friend also started shooting at me. At that point, the situation turned into an actual shootout.

I will provide my POV as evidence, and I believe the clip clearly shows that I was not intentionally trying to RDM the unarmed player. After the first shot hit him, I stopped firing and tried to avoid hitting him again. You can also see from my aim afterwards that I was capable of hitting my shots, but I intentionally stopped shooting once I realized the situation.

I completely understand that hitting the unarmed player was not good and that I should have taken an extra moment before firing. I am not denying that I made a mistake.

However, I believe a 3-day ban is far too harsh for a situation where only one accidental shot hit the player in the shoulder, I immediately stopped shooting, and I actively tried to fix the situation by giving him a chance to put his hands up.

This was not me intentionally shooting an unarmed player for no reason. It was a split-second mistake caused by seeing another person with a large weapon immediately after hearing a crowbar during what appeared to be an active raid.

I know the rules, I understand what I did wrong, and I will be more careful in situations like this in the future. I am simply asking that the circumstances and my POV are taken into consideration, because I do not believe a 3-day ban is proportionate to a single accidental shot that I immediately tried to correct.

I hope you will review the evidence and reconsider either the ban itself or at least the length of the punishment.

I understand that what I did was wrong, and I know that you are not allowed to shoot someone just because you think they might have a weapon.

However, I believe the context of the situation matters. I reacted too quickly and accidentally hit him once, but as soon as I realized that he was unarmed, I immediately stopped shooting. Instead of continuing, I tried to correct my mistake by putting him at gunpoint and telling him to put his hands up.

In my opinion, the fact that I stopped shooting and attempted to continue the situation through gunpoint should be taken into consideration. He did not listen to my commands, and the situation eventually turned into a shootout.

I fully admit that the initial shot was a mistake, but I do not believe that accidentally hitting him once, then immediately stopping and trying to handle the situation properly, should be treated the same as intentionally shooting or killing an unarmed player for no reason.

We all know that you cannot simply shoot somebody who does not have a weapon, but considering the entire situation, I personally do not believe that one accidental shot should result in a three-day ban.

So, in short, what I mean is that I think the way I handled the situation afterwards saved it from becoming a complete rule break.

I agree that it could have been considered a rule break at first, but in this exact situation, when you look at the full clip and the context, I do not believe I made any serious mistake. I stopped shooting as soon as I realized he was unarmed and tried to handle the situation properly by telling him to put his hands up.
