Punishment Type: Ban
Punishment Subtype: Server Ban
Appeal Type: Dispute[Evidence]
Which staff member issued the punishment?: @mimeyy
How long were you banned/blacklisted for?: 2 Days

Your Steam Name: Userone
Your Roleplay Name: Michelle Jefferson
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:1:44251175

Why were you punished?: 3.4

Why should this appeal be considered?: Administrator argues that I violated 3.4, because I stayed in the building of a shooting, after I had reported the shooter for killing me with no justification or warning. Administrator argues that the gunfire and the police telling me to leave, were warnings on behalf of the shooter, and that going downstairs a floor and filming the bodies of the officers was me violating 3.4 not valuing life.

The shooter gave no warning to me to leave the area, and merely killed me on sight. Despite the fact that I was downstairs.

Additional Information: I believe the administrator issued the ban as a retaliation for me questioning the rule.

The breach of 3.4 here was quite blatant, and while I understand that you were trying to create some interesting roleplay scenarios by playing as a journalist, there are a few considerations you must keep in mind.

I saw you comment that you did not intend to loot weapons on the Shoutbox, but as you can see the rule phrasing is quite clear, and it states that just remaining near a shootout you are not involved in and while unarmed is a rule-break.

Remaining near shootouts while unarmed/uninvolved, or with the intention of looting weapons.

Also, going down one flight of stairs is not considered leaving the area. As a matter of fact, you should have left the building and its surroundings the moment you heard the first shots, but you instead walked towards them and stayed really close to the property where they were taking place.

Just because you are playing a part (in this case, a journalist), it does not excuse you from following the rules, even if you believe that a real life professional would do such things. This is enforced because, if we allowed people to bend the rules solely because it fits their character narrative, anyone would be able to just bypass them at their convenience.

I have also realized that a large chunk of your complaint revolts around the alleged wrongdoing on the shooter's end. I will issue no comment on that, as I am in no position to do so and you have already been informed on how to proceed. However, you must bear in mind that just because you think someone else has done something worse than you, your own wrongdoing will not be ignored.

Lastly, you claim that this ban was issued as retaliation. The staff I have reviewed this case with and I strongly agree that the punishment was correct, but if you believe that you have been targeted and/or the punishment is too harsh, you will need to make a Staff Complaint on @mimeyy. If you have any other questions regarding the rules, please feel free to contact me or any other staff member.
