Looking for recommendations on story games. What is the best story game you’ve played? Why is it your favorite?

Also give me like a top 3-5 with reasonings, really want to play some new games

hotline miami franchise is great
very deep story, good gameplay and im ngl it has one of the best soundtracks alongside being known as a goat in the gaming industry

gta 4+dlcs is great one of the best gtas with a great physics engine, runs smoothly and is yk its gta idk what u want me to say haha

next one is postal 2 great game its more of a piss about game and it has coop mods too.

Cry of fear also has a deep story and a great emphasis on mental health, the story is amazing by the way if your into like foreshadowing and using your brain to analyse its free however most games here are quite cheap for u potentially idk im not your accountant baby bro

Also i will suggest more thinking of it erm, ik its not singleplayer but aquaa needs to be a number 1 milarper for sure

Bioshock series, The walking dead Series Huge plot twists in the series I played that when I was sick with covid for a week, Far cry series, Alan wake, The last of us, Mass effect. I could go on

Assassins creed valhalla, even tho I had to run the game on lowest settings and it was bugged to shits for me I still enjoyed the story a lot. It's very similar to AC Odyssey in terms of being able to roam around doing your own thing & looting, levelling up and not being stuck to a story

For honor has a great storyline, even despite the multiplayer part of the game being dogshit - can also play it coop, adds to the fun

Hitman games all goated, especially hitman 3 with how loud "sneak" attacks are with certain weapons

I finished TLOU a few months ago and now I'm thinking of playing the 2nd game, and I also just had a co-worker suggest Mass Effect to me so I'll look into it.

Hitman series is good, But a struggle when you have to restart over and over to get the kill perfect

Pretty sure I bought Valhalla on PS5 a year back or so with a bunch of other games on sale that I haven't even touched yet so will definitely boot this up soon.

Both Kingdom Come Deliverances are great

I've played Rdr2 about 6 times and it never gets old, Rdr1 also came out on ps5 recently and playing that immediately after the prequel was fun.

I also recently played a load of the God Of War games and it was fun but some of the games are old and a bit annoying to play now.

Or you could finally finish Black Myth Wukong, it's been what like 6 months now?

If you haven't..

Cry of Fear.

It's a game that is still played nowadays but runs on the old GoldSrc engine.

Whilst it is old and may not run as expected, it plays out amazingly and the story is told by somebody your age struggling with mental health.

It's a couple hours of playtime and runs on the same premise as any "zombie shoot, collect items & puzzles" type game.

Stuff might not seem to be understandable at first, but play the game, watch one of the countless videos on it and see what each and every event means.

My favorite is the soundtrack, Sophie being my most favorite.

Half Life 2 because half life 2 is a puzzle game and you have to use your mind to figure out what to do. Although is badically kill zombies the story line is quite amazing especially the ending. There is also 2 episodes to add onto that however it costs money but it is worth it. Is better to get on deals as it goes for a dollar or more not like now.
Assassins Creed Black IV Flag like halflife 2 being puzzles but based on pirates it is cool. You get a boat after a mission and you have full right to customize it by doing missions. It is hard to get 100% as 50% of the game is story and the other is based on chests etc. And most assassin creed franchise are good.
GTA V is also good but am assuming you have played it. San Andreas is also good.
Half life 1 is good aswell. Knowing a game that is basically like double my age. Also has a good story which features many items and the old graphic which gives out nostalgic vibes when playing. It is also a good game.

Original fallout games, 1 specifically but 2 isn’t too bad, if you can stand 90s turn based games and clunky controls.

1. While it has shitty outdated mechanics and you will most likely have to look at a guide control wise the story is so worth it because the twist at the ending is actually so crazy.

2. There’s only really 2 endings, the third is if you’re actually stupid, but every little thing can have a big impact on which ending you have, like there’s some things you can find when you first start that will greatly impact your playthrough towards the middle / ending.

3. A lot more story than there is shitty 90s turn based fighting, which makes it worth it IMO

Im gonna add onto this too, fallout NEW VEGAS story wise is literally the best, especially with all of the DLCs and cut content restoration mod(s), Fallout 1 and New Vegas are worth a play.
