Suggestion Title: Call forwarding
Suggestion Description: I've started playing dispatch and absolutely love the system. While there's more than one dispatcher on-duty we usually split our tasks between eachother. The radio can be quite busy at times and keeping the protocol enforced while relaying the important information can be quite a challenge so for the most part there's a dedicated person just for that (Radio Operator). But as we all know there's many more things to do as a dispatcher like managing incidents cctvs and most importantly 911 calls - the very first contact that our beloved PLPD usually has with citizens in distress. As I've said one person would be taking care of the radio and the other would have incidents and 911 calls. The issue is, I feel like 911 calls are assigned to one of us at random and it can create a little bit of chaos if one of us doesn't catch up the other one has a call ongoing. Here comes the suggestion - add a button on the phone that allows you to forward the call to another dispatcher on duty. This way the radio operator can focus more on his job.
We could go a little bit further with this aswell, maybe adding a button in the dispatch computer to forward the call to a specific officer on duty if the situation requires it although this would require much more work as I'm guessing you would have to integrate the calls into the dispatch system instead of the phone.
Why should this be added?:
- Role divided dispatchers could focus more on their tasks w/o interruptions.
What negatives could this have?:
- Might be quite a bit of coding even for the basic idea of just "T to forward".
-Small chance it increases the wait time for calling citizens
What problem would this suggestion solve?: Getting interrupted in the middle of relaying information about a ongoing shootout, having to quickly fill in the other dispatcher about what's going on to accept the call.
