Today multiple changes are going to be taking place within the PLPD as a result of recent events. To understand why, please see the below statement from the Complaint Committee.

Complaint Committee Public Statement

Hello all, I am sending this announcement out due to the result of a recent complaint.

The complaint committee has recently concluded a sitting concerning allegations relating to Chief of Department Hendricks and Deputy Chief of Department Super_. In the order of transparency we believe that we should make a relevant announcement informing the community of the result of this complaint. The original subject of this complaint was exonerated however due to evidence obtained throughout the investigation the complaint committee came to the conclusion that they had to sustain allegations of code of ethics breaches no-longer have confidence in the Chiefs of Department and thus have voted to remove them from office.

The Police Department has a set Code of Ethics and policies in place to ensure the fairness of this organisation is maintained to the highest level. We are as an organisation accountable for our actions and expect the office of the Chiefs of Department to be held to the highest account. This investigation conducted by Internal Affairs has been rigorous and a lengthy investigation. We want to reassure the community and the department that incidents like this are unacceptable at any rank and those involved will be dealt with accordingly.

Due to the nature of the complaint, members of the committee will not be able to comment on their involvement in this complaint and would like to thank everyone for reading this and understanding the position this puts the department in.

Due to the above, the following changes are now taking place:
  • The PLPD will enter a transition period of no longer than three weeks, during which:
    • Quartermaster @TinySlayer will take on the role of Caretaker Chief of Department for the sole purpose of managing the transition.
    • Major @Collier and Major @Mim will continue in their roles and run the day-to-day activities of the department.
    • No major changes will take place within the PLPD during this period, aside from ones that are already significantly progressed.
    • Existing command recruitment vacancies will be paused to allow candidates to apply for new roles.
  • Head of People Services @Jord will begin leading the recruitment process of the next Chiefs of Department shortly.
  • Head of People Services @Jord and the Head of Dispatch @Ellie will be promoted to Staff Sergeant to take into account the authority they gained when recruited into their roles.
  • @Hendricks and @Super_ will take on the rank Sergeant
There will be further announcements regarding what will be happening going forward, so please keep an eye out for those. If you have any immediate questions, please direct them at People Services or the Community Managers.
