I have heard mixed opinions from credible sources regarding the permissibility of PLPD camping the vent exits of the Bank on the new V6 Map.

an oversimplified way of explaining why both sides believe what they believe is:

A) Cops deal with bank heist every day a lot, so it makes sense to get used to it

VS

B) A cop wouldn't normally know the layout of the ventilation systems of a bank, nor where they come in and go out realistically.

To end this once and for all, I would like to request that an Administrator+, ideally Collier as he wrote the rules himself, could shine some light on this nuanced matter.

Are cops allowed to camp the exits of where the bank ventilation comes out to?

Solution
Cops camping the 3 exits from the bank is how it was designed. Either they focus on one exit or split themselves between the 3.

Then the robbers have either:
  • A less concentrated number of cops to fight at only one exit
  • Or can think on their feet and switch exit if the cops are only camping one or two.

What you are describing is the way things were supposed to work when I designed the new layout. It worked well during testing, and from what I've seen, works well in practice. With both cops and robbers winning a relatively equal number of raids +everyone having a much better time as the new system requires much more communication and thinking on your feet.

So yes, it's allowed, and is how it's meant to work.
So every cop that would check their angles would, by your definition, be meta-gaming as they have no in-game way of knowing they can escape through a sewer?

B) A cop wouldn't normally know the layout of the ventilation systems of a bank, nor where they come in and go out realistically.
I always get annoyed by arguements like this. We're playing a game. By definitions of realism a bank wouldn't get robbed daily, don't have a pallet of cash sitting in a room and realistically, a cop would exactly know the layout of a bank if it were to be robbed.

Cops are aware of the exits. Whether through bank raid training drills or city maps is not important.

What else are they supposed to do while knowing the only three possible escape routes?

In v6 testing, the Bank robbery was tested extensively and it was all done with pd camping those exits. Changes were made to make the camping not as easy (op lines of sights removed, added bollards around rear exit to block pd cars from blocking, etc.) If there was an issue with camping, everyone would be well aware day one.

By this logic any criminals raiding a base who have not entered this base in that current lifetime should not know the layout of the building. So are you then going to punish anyone who shows a knowledge of the buildings or doesn’t just run in like a headless chicken? What you are suggesting is a slippery slope…

i see nothing wrong with it personally, it's the same as knowing about the layout of bases as goose said, it still works in the crim's favour imo as its hard to have enough cops guarding each exit
