Basically I hadn't been a cop in ages like way before the ranks and dispatch came in etc.
So upon joining the force I radio'ed for a partner to teach me the ropes again - since a lot has changed...
He instantly picked me up and helped me with all the new stuff I wasn't used to, like the ranks, the whole dispatch thing, the general procedures etc. I also noticed how he responded to any officers who were needing a higher rank and taking charge of the whole force if he was the highest rank on at the time...
All and all I now feel confident enough to patrol on my own so he was a big help.
