Good afternoon perpheads

Thought it was worth a try making a post to see if anybody else has suffered with this. For about a month now I've been having an issue where my internet will drop out every 5-10 minutes when I'm playing the server on higher pop. No issues on low pop, me and @Mallard had a romantic session this morning and I had no issues but once the server hit about 60 players it started happening and I gave up on the dream.

There's no way to address the issue each time, it will just fix itself after a minute tops. My cables are all connected properly, have reset my router and done other general diagnosis/quick fixes. Is there likely to be a correlation between playercount/perpheads in general and my internet or is this going to be purely a me problem?

Cheers for the help @Creepis

Had a similar problem like that 1.5 year ago. I just couldnt play the server on evenings because my intenet was dropping off for unknown reason and i thought its just a perp problem but then i started noticing it happens in other games too.

The solution for me was changing my internet provider and getting a better and higher quality one.

Ouch nice one. If I can avoid selling a kidney then I will but I'll keep that in mind unless there are any other techy solutions.

Have you tried using VPN maybe? (I dont know if VPN has to do something with your internet tho)

If the internet problems dissapear when using a VPN then it actually has something to do with internet

I’ve been having this problem this problem for a few months, in the morning when theres around 40 people I get normal ping (150 ping) but as the evening comes and the pop starts to increase I get nearly 200 ping and driving delay is really bad, I also just disconnect every 10~ minutes and it is not packet loss, I’ve found that the most probable solution is to ask my ISP for a static IP, or just switch ISPs completely. I think having a dynamic IP may be the issue due to it switching IPs regularly and I’ve tried using a VPN to combat this but it just disconnects me from that too.

What type of internet do you have and what modem do you use for it. Are there any routers or wifi boosters in between youe modem and your pc? How's your pc connected. If by cable, is the cable at anywhere damaged?

Ethernet, router (not sure what modem). Can't climb in the walls but will inspect the open cables for damage.

It's a very wild guess, but i'm thinking it might be an issue anywhere in your modem/router. Cheaper ones, especially ones given by your ISP, tend to not handle high, concurrent connections well. They can get too hot and reboot or freeze somewhere down the proces. I've actually had a similar issue at a family members house. Whenever the entire family used the router at the same time, it would crash. It turned out it's power adapter couldn't handle the higher load and turned itself off and on again until it couldn't handle the higher load. Rinse and repeat. I used to have an issue where my ISP provided modem couldn't handle the amount of requests garry's mod does to check available servers. It would freeze the entire modem up for about 10 minutes too for the entire house. I managed to fix this by disabling the amount of ping requests in the steam settings, but this wouldn't fix your issue in-game.

There's a lot possible but since you mentioned this only started the last month or so i'm going to assume it is not a software issue on your PC or router unless you changed any settings or added any hardware. If you're on cable, you would be the only one with problems if the cable were damaged in any way. Does the entire network die when you encounter this problem or is it just your PC?

To diagnose some issues on the modem/router, you could login onto it's admin page and check for any logs or errors. Additionaly, your ISP might've pushed an update or enabled a very short lease time for your dynamic IP causing issues. Again, logs of your modem/router would indicate more
