Is this a new law or a change to a current law: New

What law do you wish to change/add:

Definitions

Litter: any discarded or abandoned refuse, rubbish, junk, or other waste material.

10.4 Littering

No person shall throw, scatter, spill or place or cause to be scattered, spilled, thrown or placed, or otherwise dispose of any litter or objects upon any public property, land or road, upon any property owned by another person, or in the waters within Paralake.

Infraction - liable for up to $1000 maximum fine.

Why should this change/addition be made:

- Yesterday, I saw someone dropping a very large amount of cigarettes, which turned out to be a nuisance. Caused vehicles to bump when going over them, and was a visual annoyance.

What is the aim of this change/addition:

- To discourage littering and allowing Police officers to punish those who do.

Ok but when are we getting this law
A draft for this law has been made a while ago. However, the creation of motions and votes on paralake.city have been paused since around February 2023 as additional ideas were planned to be implemented to increase vote turnout. As it stands, the system mostly remains at a standstill. While drafts are still being made for incoming law suggestions, these currently are not being approved due to motions being paused, which would be required for them to be added to motions so to speak.
