Is this a new law or a change to a current law: New

What law do you wish to change/add:

Definitions

Litter: any discarded or abandoned refuse, rubbish, junk, or other waste material.

10.4 Littering

No person shall throw, scatter, spill or place or cause to be scattered, spilled, thrown or placed, or otherwise dispose of any litter or objects upon any public property, land or road, upon any property owned by another person, or in the waters within Paralake.

Infraction - liable for up to $1000 maximum fine.

Why should this change/addition be made:

- Yesterday, I saw someone dropping a very large amount of cigarettes, which turned out to be a nuisance. Caused vehicles to bump when going over them, and was a visual annoyance.

What is the aim of this change/addition:

- To discourage littering and allowing Police officers to punish those who do.
