PREFACE
Welcome to the October 2024 edition of the Monthly Roundup. This newsletter is designed to keep our employees and the public updated with any changes in the city or department. Attached to the newsletter will be a message from the office of the Chiefs of Department, awards, key moments and careers. Any additions to the newsletter please contact Human Resources via helpdesk.MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF
In last month’s edition my colleague Steven Ficklestein spoke about how September had been a busy month, and October has been no exception. The Office of the Chiefs of Department has become a well-oiled machine working alongside the newly established Advisory Board, with many decisions having already been made and many more continuing to flow down the pipeline.
We launched the 2024 Q3 Employee Satisfaction Survey in its new overhauled format, which has provided a great deal of valuable data that the Senior Management Team will be analysing with Human Resources. The results will be published soon, and will be followed by a plan for transformation to make sure the Department continues sailing in the right direction.
The Senior Management Team took the decision to merge Dispatch Command with Patrol Command and the transition process is making good progress, with a recent update to the website laying the foundation for both the merger and the planned updates for the Tactical Firearms Unit.
The new Corporal application has been launched with 45 colleagues having attempted it at the time of writing. Alongside this my colleague Schneider Ficklestein has also been working on a planned change to the Resources page on the website to improve navigation and user accessibility, as well as having transferred many of our important general policies to the Officer Handbook.
There are many other workstreams happening in the background at differing levels of the Department, all of which promise exciting and much needed change. I would like to thank everyone for their continued dedication and time investment into making the PLPD a fantastic place to be.

"On behalf of the entirety of Traffic Command, I would like to thank Ex. Lieutenant Megasaw for his extensive service to our division. In the time he worked as part of our team and as a Traffic Trainer, he made strides in modernising our practical recruitment stage and training resources. Megasaw always had an eager and devoted attitude towards his duties and he has made an incredibly positive impact on our division. It is with great regret that he departed from our ranks yesterday and his fantastic work ethic and warm personality will be dearly missed. Furthermore, the Tactical Firearms Command team would like to commend Megasaw for his uncompromising performance within the Tactical Firearms Training & Recruitment team. Despite his numerous other responsibilities, Megasaw fulfilled his trainer duties beyond expectations and stood out with his great work ethic and attention to detail."
