This page says it is discord overlay fucking you over by not loading properly

If it really is discord, try following the guide on this page regarding possibly disabling discord on gmod to check:

Every overlay except Steam's is useless, I had disabled this setting already, and somehow it unticked the parameter on its own, when I did this, my Garry's mod wouldn't open again and kept crashing, solved the issue through other means, thank you for your effort, you may close this
