Suggestion Title: Police tutorial mission(s) for new officers.
Suggestion Description: Adding a Police tutorial for first time joiners of the PD that they can opt into taking. This tutorial would teleport them to different areas in order to complete tasks on using certain equipment.
The tutorial would be conducted in the underground parking garage section, and the gun range.
It would go as such:
Starting the session: Officers will select “I would like to complete my training” at the desk NPC. Upon doing so, they would need to confirm they wish to partake in training. This could be done as one session altogether, or 3 separate sessions.
Part 1: Car controls.
Upon the first part starting, they are teleported to the underground parking garage, inside a crown Victoria. The first step would be telling them to press R to turn the engine on, and how to turn on headlights. They would then be told to toggle their lights and sirens on and off.
They then would be told to press F3 to check out the police computer, how to open an incident, and how to close an incident.
Part 2: Equipment:
They will be told how to use:
- Handcuffs, by cuffing and releasing an NPC.
- Nightstick, by hitting an NPC.
- Battering ram, by hitting a door that spawns into the session.
- Ticket book, by ticketing a car. Also, afterwards doing the same on a wrecked car to impound it.
- Spike strips, by placing and picking them up again.
- Radio, by using incident radio, standard radio, text radio, and panic button.
- How to use bandages on other players (thanks @lencz )
Part 3: Guns.
They are teleported to the gun range (ideally close range, but any available lane if those are taken) and get given a glock 17 with a flashlight attachment. They then have to complete tasks in order to progress, such as:
- Basic controls, such as aiming, shooting, and reloading.
- Tutorial on how to use the flashlight on the gun.
- Shooting the target several times.
- Shooting the target several times whilst crouching, to show them that it decreases recoil.
None of this would be compulsory. It is just for new players to learn. This could be initiated by the phone quest system too, only giving players the ability to be in such a session by selecting a phone mission.
Why should this be added?:
- New players get a cool quest system they can opt into taking to learn how to play Officer with the basic equipment.
- Clears up confusion before they are forced to use such equipment in the field with 0 experience on it.
- This tutorial is not hindered or limited by limitations presented by training teams, and no such training courses are currently manually offered to new officers at this very moment in time.
What negatives could this have?:
- Could cause issues by availability of facilities in use, which is why I’ve opted out of this being conducted in the training area specifically.
- Not specifically an urgent operational requirement to say the least.
What problem would this suggestion solve?: Officers having an idea on the controls of, and how to use each piece of equipment given to them as a regular officer, should they opt into the automatic training.
