Brief description of idea:
Similar to how it works for the PD, A single supervisor (sergeant+) should receive a reserve Secret Service slot.
This idea is to:
- Allow SS to be better regulated as they are acting officers who hold their ranks as SS agents when they’re in the PD.
- Allows a qualified person to become SS even when there is no SS slots, as it makes sense that diplomatic protection would remain active independent from the mayors opinion for it
- Would allow the mayor to be located and arrested quicker in case of misconduct.
This won’t extend to having SS when there is no mayor.
What benefits would this idea have for the department:
- Supervisor can always go SS to sort out misconducting agents / mayors.
- Makes sense to allow the mayor to have 1 SS by default.
- Someone with experience can always go SS to lead a secret service team.
What potential negatives could this have for the department:
Possibility of having 4 SS agents I guess.
