Suggestion Title: Trunk searching changes
Suggestion Description: The current mechanic for searching trunks only allows a police supervisor to search a trunk while dragging the owner of the vehicle. This creates an issue because there are many times where the driver is not the owner but has trunk access.
This means /me must be relied on to search the trunk, but this is technically bypassing a game mechanic with /me. However 3.19 is not enforced in these situations because the game mechanic is inadequate. Additionally, players who are aware of the fact that a mechanic exists for Sergeants to search trunks may not comply with a /me to search the trunk, which makes it unreliable. If the trunk could be searched mechanically it would not be an issue
Proposed changes:
- Allow trunks to be searched while dragging anybody who has trunk access, not just the owner of the vehicle
Considerations:
- I'm told it is currently acceptable for a lower-ranked officer to search a trunk with /me despite the mechanic being for supervisors only. If development/command wants to keep this power, should the mechanic be extended to a lower rank?
- The mechanic doesn't cover removing items, so this must still be done with /me. This way, officers can still make forced withdrawals for specific items using /me without breaking 3.19.
Why should this be added?:
- Make it more reasonable to enforce 3.19 in these situations
- Make the mechanic more useful
- Avoid having to rely on /me in many cases
What negatives could this have?:
- Could be abused/bypassed by the owner removing trunk keys in the f4 menu
What problem would this suggestion solve?: An additional concern is that while the mechanic only allows supervisors to search trunks, it seems like it is currently acceptable under 3.19 for a lower-ranked officer to search a trunk with /me
