Punishment Type: Warning
Appeal Type: Dispute[Evidence]
Which staff member issued the punishment?: @homelessdude
How long were you banned/blacklisted for?: Not Applicable

Your Steam Name: Franko
Your Roleplay Name: Tryggve Stenbock
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:1:123987305

Why were you punished?: 2.5 - Killed somebody who posed no threat to them.

Why should this appeal be considered?: Since when aren't you allowed to kill someone who's pointed a gun straight at you? Especially in this case the person was actually in my face and I get that there's a severe and huge difference if a person would've pointed a gun in my general direction from a far distance, but this person pointed their gun at my face like one meter away. Again, with context in mind I now know it was a visual bug on my end and not the person actually pointing the gun at me but regardless, since when has this not been reason enough to kill a person? Has it been changed in the rules or why are we suddenly ruling this as a rulebreak? I never intentionally tried to cause harm or annoyance, but simply act on what I've from since start believed to be reason enough to kill another player.

Additional Information: Thanks for considering my dispute, and again, if this has been a clear rule change then I apologize for not being thorough, but I'm chocked this warning was issued based on what I explained above.

If someone clearly points a gun at you with intend to use it to threaten you or kill you, then you can 100% kill them.
This player gunpointed you for not even a second, so it was obviously an accident or a visual glitch. They also did not interact with you at all, you just immediately shot him without any roleplay beforehand.
You need to make sure they actually intend to kill you before immediately shooting them. They posed no threat to you at all yet you decided to immediately resort to shooting them.

Here is a part of the 2.5 handbook.
Proportionate Escalation: The rule allows for violence as a proportionate escalation of negative actions that have been performed against the original player. This means that while conflicts are allowed, they should be reasonable and justifiable based on the situation
What you must comprehend when playing PerpHeads is that in order to kill someone you must have a very good reason to justify it. Some good examples of reasons you can use to justify the killing of a player are:
  • The player is raiding / has raided your property
  • The player stole your vehicle
  • The player has killed one of your associates
  • The player mugged you
  • The player has directly and explicitly threatened your life
  • ...

Getting gunpointed for 0.5 seconds is not a direct and explicit threat to your life, especially when they simply walk off and do nothing. If this player was clearly gunpointing you for a few seconds, it is safe to assume they want to do something to you.
Furthermore, the actual 2.5 rule says this;
For example, it is excessive to:
  • Kill someone over insults or minor or accidental actions
This was clearly either accidental or a glitch. The warning is valid.
