"To my dear friends of Paralake,
If you’re reading this, it means I finally did it—I packed up my life, my secrets, my gambling debts, and yes, even my last brown suit, and I left Paralake behind.
Now before any of you start placing bets on how long I last in Truenorth, let me just say this wasn’t exactly my idea. My 13th ex-wife—God bless her persistence if nothing else—finally wore me down. You try saying no to someone thirteen times and see how far you get. Eventually, even a man like me has to admit when he’s outplayed, underpaid and desperate.
Paralake… what can I say? This place made me. The sweaters, home invasions, late night explosions—I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Every corner’s got a story, and unfortunately for me, I’m in most of ‘em.
To the ones who still owe me money—don’t think this move means I forgot. Distance don’t erase debt. It just makes collecting more interesting.
To the ones who gambled with me—may you always hit triple 7's on the 30k fruit slots. Always place your sidebets, and don't be afraid to bet the house!
And to the few of you I’d actually call friends… take care of yourselves. Life’s a strange game. One day you’re on top, the next you’re getting talked into moving halfway across the world by someone who once shot a Glock at you—and missed, which is why I married her again."
