What editing software do u guys use to edit your montages?

Premiere Pro, but ain't nobody got the funds in 2026 when ram prices are the same as the key for it. (Pirated)

I honestly find great fun in it but would highly recommend DaVinci Resolve (free) if you dont have anything else.

For the one montage I pump out per my existence: DaVinci Resolve. The free version covers just about all your basic needs and it's a very good app.

And when I say it covers all your basic needs, it has most of the features that premium software had a few years back. The paid version just has more and better variants of those features (such as Point Tracking - the free version is GOOD, but the premium one is extremely good.)

I currently use OpenShot since it was mostly lightweight and free, but I am switching to DaVinci soon since my coworker uses it professionally and can show me a few pointers.
As far as Montages go, anything that's simple and intuitive works, I would definitely use OpenShot if all you're doing is trimming down clip segments, overlaying audio, and maybe some basic transitions.

DaVinci Resolve will be the best for anyone, although it may be intimidating at first, it's really simple once you understand it and only really get's complicated when you start creating fusion templates, etc., which you won't really be using for simple edits

Back in uni they always tried to get us to use Adobe Premiere (it was the one installed on the campus pooters), so that is the one I am the most comfortable using, but at one point I switched to DaVinci Resolve and it's honestly the best one, both for beginners and advanced users.

originally vegas pro 13, then moved to davinci resolve after an update broke the shit out of vegas for me.
haven't reinstalled it though since getting my new machine though, so now i'm just using steam clipping since i don't bother editing videos anymore and most of my clips are game related anyway so desktop capture isn't necessary on my end.
also use movie maker in a pinch
