I'm looking for an editting software for pictures, and i've already cracked photoshop and tried paint.net but i just don't like it for some reason it is a bit too advanced for me. I'd like a simple to use software that will be easy to use when making something take for example a steam profile picture.

I've been using Gimp because I can't be arsed to get Photoshop. If you want something simple and easy to learn then Gimp is good enough for your needs and has almost everything you need.

all of these painting programs have extremely similar methods of editing like the tools. If you use one tool on Photoshop you will always have an idea how to use it on every other program
plus every program you use has a big learning curve so there isn't really an easy peasy alternative
