A small update today to keep you guys going before some larger updates in the near future.

Rogue Magazine (First Issue):
There's a new magazine in Paralake, created by our very own @BigRossKane. Rogue Magazine offers some great content highlighting the hidden gems and goings-on throughout the server. There may be more of these in the future, so get this issue at Jennifers while you can!

New cars:

As suggested by @The HitMan a while back, there's a few cars included in TDM which have not yet been added to the server. I did quite a bit...

Hello Perpheads players! We recently installed Cloudflare for our website in attempt to mitigate the recent DDoS attacks, hopefully it will help but it has had some side effects.
Some players choose to connect to the server by typing "connect perpheads.com" into their consoles, sadly this no longer works with that URL, but those who use the server browser should feel no change. Instead now you can use the following:

• perpheads.win​
• gmod.perpheads.com​
• 94.23.153.193:27015​

Similarly, the TeamSpeak 3 server suffers from the same issue, please use one of the following to connect/adjust your bookmark:

• perpheads.win​
• ts.perpheads.com​
• 94.23.153.193​

Sorry about events taking place during the week but currently with our population on weekends it would make the server too laggy. They will be taking place on 18/08/2022 (Upcoming Thursday) and will take place at 16:00 GMT+1!

Today's update is aimed at improving the server's performance, specifically the issue of massive lag spikes that would happen roughly every minute if the server is near capacity. We have identified the issue to be related to the server using too much memory and Lua's garbage collector not working as well as one would expect. Due to this we had to take drastic measures to reduce the memory footprint of the server.

If you noticed that you have far fewer drugs in your storage than previously, do not worry. This is an intended part of this update.

As might come to some people's surprise, the main culprit of the high memory usage are actually items. On our server, each item is modelled as its own individual object. So, if someone has 10,000 drugs in their storage, then that is 10,000 objects in memory. Unfortunately, it turns out we have a lot of item hoarders among us, which is why this has become such a big issue...
