Suggestion Title: Meth buff
Suggestion Description: At the moment of writing this Meth is very underwhelming to do and ive got a few reasons why and hopefully a couple solutions to this. Meth is currently the most expensive drug to get started on, it takes the most focus to do and has the highest risk to it AND is outdone by coke in terms of money, efficiency, and difficulty.

Now for a couple solutions (maybe)

- Simply make meth sell for more.

- make meth not take as long to produce.

- Reduce the price of buying the ingredients Lye, starch, ephedrine, matches, ethyl ether propane tanks etc.

With that being said i like the idea of having a drug that has significant risk to it, the only problem though is that i feel that if the risk is higher the pay should be too which it sadly is not atm.

Why should this be added?:
- Switching up the meta and making for a more exciting gameplay loop instead of just spamming coke all the time forever.

What negatives could this have?:
- I honestly dont know what negatives this could have apart from having to balance it and dev time obviously.

What problem would this suggestion solve?: Coke being the BY FAR best drug to produce without it even being a debate.

Meth already drops $250 per unit sold and can be optimised to give you like 60 units per beaker dried. Combine this with growing coca plants and you’re already able to make significant amounts of money per session as is. With ephedrine and other better ingredients you can already make huge batches in no time. Even Sudafed with the right ingredients is a fine yield.

There’s a lot of confusion with meth and some players don’t realise either that in some cases more expensive ingredients doesn’t always give a yield that pays off. The art of it isn’t cramming the most expensive ingredients into it, the art is finding out which ingredients produce what qualify (which determines your yield) at the lowest possible cost and running with it.
Also id like to hear how the hell you get 60 per beaker what ingredients do you use?

please familiarize yourselves with it, it might help you understand a lot about how drugs are balanced, and why meth probably will not get buffed.
I read through the post and the only real thing I got from it was that Coke should be nerfed instead of Meth buffed
 
I mean I enjoy making meth regardless of profit as it requires my active attention most of the time, I don't think that it should be buffed, but rather coke processing be nerfed.
 
I feel like it should stay the way it is.
Some people like the passive drug rp and basing = less interaction
Some people like to pvp and bazaar main, nothing wrong with that either
Everything has it's pros and cons and I feel like the drugs in perp shouldn't be nerfed nor buffed.
 
I’m probably overstepping the boundaries of this suggestion, but I’d rather see coke nerfed and some entirely new way of making money in base introduced. It’s always scoffed at but bitcoin miners would be fun if implemented properly.

Basing has been very stale for quite some time, it would be refreshing to engage with a new system.
 
I remember people having this debate in 2015, glad to see its still going lmao

The problem @Mage and @..... raised are my main concern here. Drugs give a lot of money already compared to all other sources of income, and for this reason there's no plans to buff a specific drug.

This being said, I do like the shift of balance/meta and I would like to hear your opinions (even though I am pretty sure I know what the answer will be) on potentially nerfing coke so that meth becomes more interesting


I think it would be great for drug prices to become dynamic, forcing a regular shift in focus!

Bitcoin miners seems a bit unrealistic as you would also require fixed and variable costs to equal it out and not make it free money. I doubt the devs would go to this length when there's better ways however this suggestion seems good if thought out.

Agreed, basing is stale as fuck. Something like printers would be a good idea. something with a large setup cost, say around 50k each time you want to base.


Right now, you risk basically nothing when you base. One gun, some seeds, and a few dishes, that’s all you put on the line for the chance to make hundreds of thousands.
 
I don’t think some people who disagree understand a key component of the perspective of those who ask for a meth buff.

Player Satisfaction

Players are missing some level of dopamine hit when they are done doing the manual labor of grinding for Meth.

I imagine it’s not necessarily about making it pay more that’s gonna fix this demand for higher pay. I think people already understand that meth statistically is lucrative but that’s not the way to fix the lack of “feel good,” from role playing producing meth.

I think it’s actually rather something like what Steelo said which is nerfing cocaine to make meth stand out more in the hierarchy.

I’ve tried suggesting uses for meth in the past like benefits to consumption so it can be implemented into combat as a wild card substance you can prepare for PVP but it’s heavily questionable how that could work in a balanced way. Ultimately the whole idea is to make the user experience better and make it more satisfactory to cook meth.

The drug that takes the most work likely shouldn't have ambiguity in its distinction between the others, and should actually feel like the best when you make it.

The amount of work and attention that goes into meth far exceeds everything else, so just make it so the other drugs require the same, that way people aren't planting and then guarding with a timer. Have coke processing have actual risk something like this -

Instead of the drying phase being a single step, have it so you need to actually make a mixture before drying it
Cocoa Leaves - Gasoline - Baking Soda --> Beaker --> "Coca paste"
- Rather than worrying about explosions in the phase above you should worry about losing quantity for over-heating

Then you dry the Coca Paste on the chemical table make it so you actually care about the temperature or else the Pyrex shatters

An additional idea for a money-printer esq item is a microgreen garden thing that grows magic mushrooms, it's model can use the minifridge model or something and once fungal spores are inside you can just keep harvesting it as long as you put newspaper inside.

Really like your last idea about growing the mushrooms in a fridge make a suggestion for that alone.
