2025 CPU suggestions?

Just hit me with some suggestions on what CPU, cooler and motherboard (if upgrading those would also be necessary) I should be using in the big 25 I really want to be able to run BF6 at a higher framerate for example and my current CPU is becoming pretty dated and struggles a lot in very intensive BF6 matches especially. I plan on upgrading RAM myself once I've got this mostly out of the way, it's currently only 16GB (x2 8GB) DDR4. Budget isn't a major concern, just not something ludicrous.

I'm currently using a Ryzen 5600x (CPU), 3080 (GPU).

It's not worth it to upgrade your AM4 unless you can get a 5700X3D for cheap and you're willing to wait for new CPUs to arrive in 2027 and a bit later for their X3D variant.

I'd suggest getting AM5 board with 7800X3D if you want to save some money but I'd go for 9800X3D and save up a bit more.

Ram prices are getting expensive so this is some unfortunate timing as you also need new DDR5 RAM. 32GB is recommended nowadays even for Battlefield.

Avoid Asrock motherboards for now as they still seem to cause burnout issues and kill AM5 CPUs. MSI or Asus are fine and some other brands too probably.

Thanks for your expertise, obviously I don't wanna wait another 2 years so I think my best bet would be to go for 9800X3D as I sort of originally planned however if you know a good place for finding a cheap and good place for 5700X3D I'd be more than intrigued to take a closer look at it and not go balls deep just yet lmao especially if DDR5 RAM is going to be a pricey one, 32GB is a definite it's the new standard.

eBay never disappointed me but they have to make sure to package it properly or else the pins might get damaged during transport which only AM4 has this issue.

Buying GPU and CPUs in the used market are economically the right choice as they never really degrade in performance.

5600x is still doing a great job for me. I am hitting 50 maybe 60% of CPU load in games, where my temps stay below 60 celsius. I have 32 gigs of ram tho, and the 16 gigs of yours might be a slight bottlenect in your case.

I was running rtx2060 for the past 4 years, and about 6 months ago I paired the 5600x with RTX5070 - yes, the 12gig variant without Ti.

Results? Games utilise the GPU in 80-90% in completely maxed out settings, and I am still getting over 100 fps at all times.

Maybe i'm completely wrong, but i see 0 need to upgrade from the 5600x.

Get a good m.2 drive, 32gb of ram, and check whats up.

Are you sure your CPU isnt overheating? When was the last time you got new thermal paste applied? What cooler are you using? I do not have bf6, but I do play a large variety of games where stable fps over 100 (Rust is running between 100-120fps and gta5 with DLSS4 hits up to 500, although you need 50xx gpu for that) is never an issue.

But judging by this you just desperately want to buy a new rig which is fine too, im just saying that maybe you are looking in the wrong direction in terms of spending 2000$ish on a new setup, and the results you are seeking may come at a much lower price closer to 200$

Lock tf in and go all out, 9800x3d has never disappointed me. Its more than enough CPU to run any game you like.

9800x3d w/ a b650 tacihi lite if you want to overclock it extremely well

I literally just upgraded to a 9800x3d today from my 7800x3d and it’s a noticeable improvement. Try to look on Facebook marketplace if you’re hurt for cash, 7800x3ds are going for 280-320 used right now and it’s a pretty good steal for the price to performance. 9800x3D is complete overkill and it’s expensive, but if you got the cash like I do just get it. It’s great!

My issue is that I want to have high framerate because I also use a 180Hz monitor and rather want the 180+fps sort of deal whilst maintaining visibility even if it comes at the cost of lowering graphic settings (unless I'm playing single player games I can adjust those accordingly to my liking depending on what it is), so long it still looks crisp essentially. Whilst my current CPU is satisfactory in most cases generally speaking, it's just not good enough for me anymore I need something more powerful heading into the future with upcoming titles, try play BF6 on a 5600x and you'll understand why it's just a bit of a nightmare for me. Also my CS2 FPS needs to be better, if it's going below 180 then it gotta be improved as insane as that may sound to a casual.

It's not overheating it does get hot when it's playing BF6 at its lowest settings though is what I can say but it's nothing alarming, just a game with heavy performance hit matches being ran on it with so much going on

They did mention Battlefield 6 where AM4 CPUs especially non X3D fall more behind in comparison to newer releases. I'm kind of hitting the same issue with a RTX 5080 on 1440P and get some bad frame times here and there but that's also probably thanks to my 16GB.

3D cache is also literally the best thing you can do for overall improved performance just about everywhere.

I have a 9800X3D paired with a RTX 5080. I don’t think I’ve come across any game yet that I can’t play at 1440p with a high frame rate. It’s a fantastic CPU, just make sure you stick a decent cooler on it because it can run hot (I opted for an AIO).

I use a high refresh monitor too and can make use of it with Battlefield 6 too due to my specs.

I always recommend Gigabyte motherboards. They're extremely good and relatively cheap. If you got the time & patience, overclock your ram. Good ram means a lot to AMD CPUs. Went from 2300 FPS (EXPO) to 2500 FPS (manual OC) in CS:S on my 7800X3D

Think most people have already said, I have a ryzen 7 9800 x3d and its the best CPU I've ever had, paired with a 4070 ti super atm and I'm running everything in 2k, 165hz monitor with no issues at all
