Suggestion Title: Taxi Driver Rework
Suggestion Description: Completely rework the taxi job, and replace it with a modern rideshare-esque feel.

This whole thing is very "dev time" intensive, and I'm aware of that. Respectfully keep feedback about the idea itself and not just "this is way too much effort for taxi lmao". I'm very aware that that is likely the outcome of this, but wanted to post this anyway.

Gone are Paralake's days of the standard yellow cab, the rarely seen yellow box mostly used to run players over on main street.

Dryft's new app will allow citizens more convient access to rides, food, and even limited supply assistance.

Inside you can request a ride to your current location, order food from McUwes to have delivered to you (For a small fee with optional gratuity of course) or even request that gas, fire extinguishers, bandages or splints be delivered to you.

When you open the app, you'll be greeted with a few different options. At the bottom, it will show "__ Drivers online in your area, with __ awaiting a task" to help you gauge whether or not a driver is online more easily, and if there's likely to be a long wait.

  • Catch a ride
    • Allows the user to select a location for pickup (Their current location by default) and a location for drop off. The location selection would have a few quick options, like Car Dealer, Bazaar, Hospital, Roadcrew, etc, but custom locations would be done by dragging a pin on the map. This would allow passengers to specify a *specific* drop off location, if they're looking to get somewhere particular (Like a specific spot in the forest) This will no longer incur distance-based costs, and instead be replaced with a flat fee of $300 to make it more consistent
  • Get some Grub
    • Allows the user to purchase food items from a couple different locations and have it delivered to them. The most notable addition there, would be McUwes, allowing players to remotely order food, for the driver to pick up and deliver to them on their behalf.
  • Speedy Supplies
    • Allows the user to request limited supply items which can help players out of a jam, inluding (But not necessarily limited to)
      • Splints
      • Bandages
      • Tire Repair Kits
      • Gas Cans
      • Fire Extinguishers
      • Propane Tanks
      • Wrenches
Once you've placed an order, it will go to a "Assigning a driver... screen, showing your location on the map."
  • Drivers will get a push notification saying "A new Dryft task is available in the app", once the driver opens the app while on the job they'll be able to see a list of currently available tasks, including what they are for (Delivery or Rideshare) They'll also see the location for pickup, and dropoff to help them better plan the order they want to take thim in if multiple are available.
  • When a driver accepts a task, the customer will be update with "Dekklan R. Your driver in a Toyota Prius (DRYFT-1)" Obviously dependent on who your driver is. You'll then be able to see their location on the map, refreshed every 10 seconds or so, to get a better feel for when they'll be there. Once your driver is approaching, within about 4000 units or so, that will trigger a push notification to let you know they'll be pulling up momentarily. Drivers will have the option to see the location on the map, similar to a courier both for the inital pickup, and dropoff location.
    • If you've selected a task which requires pickup and drop off, you'll get a notification that they've picked the order up as well, and the approaching notification will not trigger unless they have already done so. You will be able to cancel your order for a full refund if you do so within the timeframe before the package is picked up. This will incur a 25% penalty from your refund, but will still grant the driver a $500 cancellation bonus. You would be on a 5 minute cooldown after cancelling an order to prevent spam or abuse.
    • If you've selected a ride, you can cancel at any time before pickup without incurring a penalty for you, again subject to the cooldown, but still paying the driver the cancellation bonus (If they've already accepted the task)
    • Once you've entered your Dryft, you can cancel your ride at any time, however the full cost will still get paid out to your driver, regardless of how far you've gone
    • Once your task is complete, at any time within 10 minutes after completion, you will be able to add a tip to your driver, paid to them with a push notification of who sent it to them
    • All orders for items will require pickup from their relevant location (Roadcrew for vehicle supplies, McUwes for burgers, etc)
A lot of these features may sound redundant, and they are. They provide another option where you're given more control, and notably information about when you'll receive your items for those moments when speed matters most. Waiting for roadcrew to come tow your car to a gas station is a headache nobody wants to deal with, and having a driver directly bring you gas and skip all the towing fuss would be a welcome option.

If no drivers are currently on the job when you open the Dryft app, it will tell you that Dryft is looking for drivers, and services are currently unavailable if nobody is driving for it at the moment.

Why should this be added?:
- Modernizes and refreshes an existing job which feels a bit left behind
- Provides new work for players deciding to drive people around
- Gives customers more information about how long their driver will take
- Uses a better system for tipping
- Removes having cash on hand as a requirement for using a taxi

What negatives could this have?:
- A lot of work
- May go unused
- Additional complication may confuse some players
- Could take away a few smaller tasks from Roadcrew and PPS players (Though they're not typically lacking for work, especially for customers requesting their own vehicles being towed)

What problem would this suggestion solve?: Taxi driver is a relic of old perp at this point, and it desperately needs an update if it's going to remain, as evidenced by the fact that the fare meter has been broken for months and nobody, players included, seems to care.

Finally finished typing up this idea and undeleted it. Enjoy and I welcome discussion!

Great suggestion, I do agree that taxi job needs a rework, it has potential but nothing is being done.

as a recent taxi main, i would love for things to spruced up, and give players more reasons to use the service!!!
