Punishment Type: Ban
Punishment Subtype: Server Ban
Appeal Type: Dispute[Evidence]
Which staff member issued the punishment?: @Chase
How long were you banned/blacklisted for?: 4 Months
Your Steam Name: Joey Skylynx
Your Roleplay Name: Joey Skylynx
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:1:11061926
Why were you punished?: 1.4 2.5 - User blew up 66 different properties / locations with fuel cans in one day for no valid reason.
Why should this appeal be considered?: I'll be starting this dispute by showing my criteria for the properties or areas I choose to firebomb/shoot gas cans at.
* Is the property owned or adjacent(next door) to other owned properties?
* Does the property contain props?
* Are any players inside the property or near the place a fuel can is being placed?
Starting this dispute like this may seem kinda odd, but it feels important to make a distinction that when I'm messing around with gas cans, I'm honestly not trying to go after players or piss on someone's leg. I'm usually messing around, safe distance from everyone or with some friends, and just having dumb fun.
With this in mind, lets move forward to each rule, how I think it's being applied, and why it confuses me.
1.4 - Causing Problems: Any attempts made by players to cause problems within any community platform will not be tolerated.
I'm not 100% on why this is being brought up. My suspicion is that, "You caused fires" or "Some of the doors had alarms, and the police came and arrested you" but I honestly do not know. If that is the case, it just seems like something that should have been solved in RP, or if it was that big of an issue, why not just contact me over F6 and tell me to stop.
2.5 Excessive Negativity
Players may not excessively impact the experience of others in a negative manner, unless the actions are a proportionate escalation of negative actions that have been performed against the original player.
Additionally, players have a 2 hour window to seek revenge on another player, provided they are unaware that the target has died and started a new life.
When participating in raids, players carrying visible weaponry whilst entering, exiting or inside of the property that is being raided are considered to be significant enough threats to be killed justifiably without prior verbal commands or interaction.
Now if you all could please refer back to my original criteria... All of my gas can related shenanigans were done on Unowned Property. All of them. I made sure of this because I have been told in the past, it's completely okay to screw around with gas cans, so long as its not a threat to players or causing issues for the server. The rules actually has this under 2.5, which is why I thought I was fine:
"Use explosives or incendiaries without taking precautions to ensure that uninvolved player's items are not damaged."
As mentioned, I do take precautions for this exact reason. It's to avoid harming the experiences of other players. If something happens where someone does get harmed or loses an item, however absurdly rare this would be, I would accept fault for it and wire them cash to pay for the losses.
Lot of this dispute is based currently on my assumptions. I realistically do not know why I was banned outside the reasons provided on the ban page. Despite being on the server with the very moderator who would ban me, not once was I asked or told to cut it out, and my ban came after I had left the server for the night.
Clarity is more what I'm trying to get, because this arson shtick is something I have absolutely done before, and staff members have told me before that its okay so long as I don't target player-owned homes/stores/vehicles. Suddenly getting whacked with a 4mo ban for something staff members have said was fine, and along with the note of "66 different properties and locations" which sorta indicates I was being watched, but not told "hey cut it out" feels a bit messed up.
Additional Information: Evidence is two demo files, not sure if Google Drive is allowed or not, but that is really all the evidence that I have.
