Why should it be added?: Because its fucking bullshit that u die as you ar bandaging yourself.

You can bleed faster then the bandage can stop the bleed. It really should depend on what you are bleeding from (Knife, machete, Katana (XQ ), Weapon (If so, then depending on the caliber, did the bullet go all the way through?? Maybe some variables that can be developed in if not to hard).

If you've lost so much blood that you're at the point of blacking out unconscious then putting a fucking bandage on isn't going to magically restore you. Bandage earlier and dont let it get to the grey screen and you won't have this problem.
