Get yourself an emulator. Obviously the game looks like shit but it has probably one of the best stories i've ever played, and you get to be a cool BRITISH firearms officer.

Half-Life 1/2 *Alyx too if you have a VR Headset (You can play Black Mesa instead of HL1, it's a very well made remake)
Red Dead Redemption 1/2 - Rockstar Games made them, amazing stories.
Mafia I Definitive Edition and Mafia II (Leave Mafia III alone, it is not that good)
Detroit: Become Human - Absolute Cinema
Grand Theft Auto V - Masterpiece
Far Cry 3/4/5 - Amazing villains
Uncharted 4
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Hey you, you're finally awake.

To The Moon is an unsually good RPGM game, OneShot is very pretty and basically like undertale.

Pacific Drive is great, as is Firewatch. Both good story games.

I really enjoyed Shadows Over Loathing, but I'm not sure it'd be your kind of game.

Fallout: New Vegas is one of the goats for story games.

The Stanley Parable is a classic.

SIGNALIS is honestly one of the best survival horror games out there.

Inscryption is really cool and has a really awesome story.

Above all, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is fantastic

Sleeping dogs is masterclass story wise, Absolute Kino from start to finish.

I really tried to like Valhalla, but the combat is so horrible compared to the previous Assassin's Creed games, which for me was always what I loved about them.

My personal favorite game of all time still goes to Dishonored (all of them). The story is amazing and you pick your own style of gameplay with the powers that you choose.

Ghostrunner is also a nice game, where you'll keep trying to perfect the way you move through the story. It's also nice, because the story just kind of unravels mainly in the background as you play, not leaving you with all that many cutscenes.

Other honorable mentions: Batman (Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Knight), Saints Row (best played with friends), Vampyr, Ghostwire.

Then there's the real story driven games: Sea of Solitude, Before Your Eyes (you need a camera for it), A Story About My Uncle
