Suggestion Title: Buff Taser Range
Suggestion Description: Double the range of the Taser (triple?)

Why should this be added?:
I try to avoid use of this weapon as much as possible because of how historically unreliable it is for me, but the other day I was chasing some sweater within 1-2 arm distances, deploy the taser right into his back mid pursuit, it does nothing, and the only reason I even survived is because I expected it to do nothing & be useless.

What negatives could this have?:
From the receiving parties perspective, "[New] Dixie Normus" won't be able to get off one or two more RDM's before being ragdolled. This hardly affects armed & prepared criminals since officers are not allowed to use tasers as a replacement for lethal force, however, others outside of that category will get diff'd much more easily I'd imagine.

What problem would this suggestion solve?: The taser being inconsistent far beyond the point of realistic.

I assume a lot of it has to do with the fact that I am playing from America with its associated ping, so it would help those folks out as well. A quick google search shows that today's Taser technology is firing up to 45 feet. That's a whole shipping container worth of distance so I don't think it would be out of the realm of reason to have this weapons range increased substantially if at all.

I feel like cops need to start avoiding the loss of life more before we worry about buffing non-lethals.

It seems like the mindset of preserving life and minimizing loss of it only matters when it does not result in a consequence with the IA Committee. That said, I do feel bad for the cops who genuinely try to do the aforementioned, then get absolutely done wrong by trigger-happy crims.

Buffing non-lethals to make them more viable will encourage more use = encouraging avoiding loss of life.
You can't say these tools WOULD help once cops started caring about using non-lethal options then not providing non-lethal options.

Cops have Batons that make melee weapons useless and tasers already.

Yeah buffing tells officers it’s more viable, but I feel like the most common mindset on both sides is avoiding their own 5 minute black screen.

I’m thinking of it from a realism pov. Cops irl in the instance of a barricaded suspect would ideally hold out for as long as possible, but pistol cops can’t scratch the itch of rushing in instead of talking first. This forces the hand of every other cop to also rush in to rescue and sparks shootouts more often.

Or a crim rushes and opens fire instantly.

Granted, like I said, too many crimes are trigger happy and that destroys any trust cops might have.

I think it’s just a PERP thing unfortunately.

personally I’d want to see less people jumping to opening fire. Honor negotiations and be honored but with how free it is to just open fire as well as the pacing, it’s probably not something that suits PERP style roleplay.

I feel like this delves away from the initial suggestion and instead turns into the age old complaint of enhancing roleplay over PVP. Sza's suggestion as a whole is beneficial to players with higher ping or just general quality of life for hunting crazy unarmed people down. The suggestion here is not "let's make tasers the PVP solution" instead it's more a QOL for being able to use it when you're on more than 40 ping or more than spitting distance away from someone.

Sure it is QoL.. for the cops. The suggestion has side effects on the player base and consequences. I’m not saying I’m against it, In fact I upvoted it, but the point of how will this actually impact the community as a whole is important to discuss.

Being able to tase someone for an extra few feet is not going to break the player base nor completely change the way the community functions.
The taser was added specifically for the purpose of adding an extra tool for the PD to use, which people thought was necessary, the current taser does not function in the way it was intended as barely anybody uses it bar for minging or an odd sweater who hasn't figured out they can sprint.
This suggestion (from my POV) intends to make the taser useable for all players in the way devs initially intended when it was implemented.
