Hello

backstory:
I am used to using Steel Series Arctis 7 but I lost that one due to airport theft. After looking into Truthear Hexas, Im lost. Audiophiles know better than me since I'm not into audio. I have a standalone Fifine mic that I'm happy using so I don't think I need a headset and so I'm thinking I just want headphones of some kind that provide really good audio for gaming or general use but that are not expensive.

Prompt:
Looking to get a IEM / Headphones that are budget but provide nice audio for gaming, competitive gaming and general use within a budget of 100$ at most.

It's been a while since I've used them and they're ~50$ outside of your pricerange I can't recommend the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro enough. If you can afford to pay the price you get excellent value for your money.

I wouldn't recommend using IEMs for gaming unless you really need to. I replaced my Moondrop Aria with the Truthear Hexa, the Aria were too fatiguing during gaming sessions and had a really sharp pain for certain gunshots (in Doom). The Hexa's also fit way better for me.
For eartips I recommend using Xelastec.

For desktop I just recommend getting studio headphones. A FiiO E10K Type-C (or Olympus 2 if not available) or a Qudelix-5K if you want more usage out of your DAC/AMP and power a beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 80Ohm's or any other studio headphones you can find that you like. There is a lot of choice but there's not much wrong you can do, just make sure if you want something that's open back or closed.
I replaced my beyerdynamic too but I don't think you'd want to spend as much as my Sony MDR-MV1 lol

If you need headset with mic I'd go with hyperx cloud II if you just need headphones not really sure but I got DT 770 pro 80ohms which they are doing their job pretty good.

I switched to Beyerdynamics DT 770 Pro 80 ohms and they’re very good but past the budget by 30$

See the problem is my setup is ghetto as it is. I got my setup on a dresser with speakers as my audio. It would be comical to get Beyerdemic’s but I feel like I got 3 choices:

1) get an adapter for my apple earbuds and rock those till I get a proper desk then save up for a proper headset like beyerdemics to try out amped headphones?

2) get a steel series headset and keep it simple within or around budget to avoid using amps

3) try my first IEM with truthear hexa.

I’m sort of leaning towards playing it safe with apple earbuds, A1L low key cooked with that. Then once I got more money I’ll see what deals there are.

What I did was get the newest earphones one (USB-C) then got an Type C extender if your PC is a tiny bit further away, still good though

yeah that would work but i talked with a friend privately and i realized if im spending 30$ or more just to get earbuds to work, i might as well:

1) get a used steel series arctis nova 7 for $50
2)get a refurbished with vendor certification (meaning it's literally new just open box) steel series arctis nova 7 for $100
3) get a new steel series arctis nova 1 for $50

both do the job for gaming way better than earpods i presume but one carries. 7 is wireless and probably way better quality wise but the used aspect carries a risk.

I am using my dt 770 pros 80ohms without an amp you don't need an amplifier till you get like a very high ohms I would recommend buying hyper x cloud II and it has a microphone but it's deatachable and it's on your budget.

i decided im going with the steel series nova 1.

Eventually, I'll probably own some beyerdemics but currently:
1) My setup is ghetto, so expensive high quality headphones don't make sense
2) nova 1 is at a store near me atm making it convenient, it's inexpensive and it's cheaper than online
3) nova 1 still has really good audio, probably no where as good as beyerdemic but that's okay for now.

the spare money in my budget can go towards getting a real desk for my pc to sit on lol. Thanks everyone for your words and time, I appreciate everyone's input.

Go for either Nova 1 or Arctis 3, I've been using the arctis 3 from steelseries for a while and have actually been used by my older brother for years.
it's a decent headset with a mic and are similar cost to the Nova 1.

nova 1 and nova 3 specs seem to be almost identical. You can find nova 1 on amazon for 45$ even, I just happen to have it at a best buy near me. The nova 3 is 60$ online with the only noticeable difference worth-mentioning being the LEDs that don't affect anything but look cool.
