Suggestion Title: Catalytic converter theft
Suggestion Description:
A new item is added called the power saw. This item is bought from Uncle Cos or roadcrew station for $500.

Stolen vehicles will be able to have their catalytic converter detached off using the power saw. Detaching will be a long 30s loading bar. Creating loud noise while doing the detaching.

An extra part I thought would be fun is Additionally, depending on the intelligence gene, there is a chance to set off the car alarm from clumsiness while detaching the converter which alerts police again.

The stolen converter will sell for $1000 to the drug dealer but possessing the stolen item is evidence of theft and can lead to arrest if caught.

To deter this being abused by players allowing friends to freely take converters, the harm done onto a car would result in the engine being Extremely Damaged when the converter is removed. Additionally, if possible, the sound of the engine should be annoyingly louder than usual until the car is seen at Veikko for $1,000 replacement of the converter.

Naturally, a dark web mission to tutorial this crime is good for teaching players how to do it but players should be able to do this regardless of the dark web mission.

Why should this be added?:
- profiting from non violent crime

- passive crime that doesn’t have to result in anyone being black screened or dying

- the new map will make it even better for car crime to become a regular thing people do for money throughout their day

- works with the new law motion about car theft

- gives roadcrew more business through people doing this crime

- reasonably way of making money all risks and labor considered with having to successfully crowbar, avoid dying to car owner, get away, successfully detach and deliver while avoiding the exponential setback of the fine.

What negatives could this have?:
- police dealing with raids and converter thefts simultaneously

What problem would this suggestion solve?: Na

A blow torch for stealing a cat wouldn’t be as good of an idea both in the sense of realism and balance as a power saw would be, usually the better method is to saw it off if you’re just trying to flip it for the precious metals within but some can be unscrewed, which without extensive knowledge of the target vehicle usually means that the universally accepted method of removing one as quickly as possible is with a power saw. You’d rarely be able to quickly remove a cat with a blowtorch, a cutting torch would do the job but generally a better idea for it could be a power saw, which would give a loud noise to alert the passerbys as to what is going on.

If a blow / cutting / plasma torch got added it’d be quieter and need to be bright to be realistic, when a saw could exist for this purpose and instead give the loud indication of the ongoing act, a universally accepted form of perp crime detection already is loud noises as it’s the best way of demonstrating the act in question being carried out.

It’s honestly still going to result in this half of the time, if anything more so since now a car thief can rip something out of your car.

A better con would be depriving a player of something they own for your own monetary gain would mean some sort of car theft limit would need to be implemented in order to be considered balanced within the rules. There should absolutely be consequences to having your catalytic converter stolen otherwise players would just repeatedly respawn their cars so others can steal the cats to moneyfarm.

This is very valid feedback and I totally agree.

1) no blow torch, it should be a power saw to make loud noise
2) death can happen between car owner vs car thief
3) I agree, maybe after the catalytic converter is ripped then the car will have an extremely damaged engine?

I edited the suggestion represent the feedback

I disagree. Stealing cars at the bazaar already leads to a lot of shootouts, even when stealing a player's car serves close to no purpose. I can't even imagine how bad it's going to get when there's actual profit to be made.

Stealing a car is done to bait shootouts and farm org xp. if you don’t want your car stolen put security upgrade

at that point just do a chop shop and steal the car?
Chop shop is totally different, especially since it’s only once every 24h.

This job is intended as a regular crime, it’s intended to be the get away driving alternative to raiding.
