Hello everyone,
For the purpose of improving checks and balances within the department, more specifically the complaint process, the Chiefs of Department are pleased to announce a slight restructure of the Complaint Committee and change to the complaints process. Not long ago, the Complaint Committee was split from Professional Standards and became a division under the Office of the Chiefs of Department.
As a result of this change, @Mim was appointed chairman of the Complaint Committee.
For many of you this won’t affect how you create a complaint or how your complaints are dealt with, but this change has brought about some smaller changes as well.
This also means that:
- Complaint Committee members can not be IA/PSD members, this includes command
- The Professional Standards department is now in charge of dealing with infraction disputes
- All personnel in charge of investigating or disputing complaints have been removed from the Complaint Committee
- Complaint Committee meetings should become more frequent
- Selecting new Complaint Committee members will first go through the new chairman
