Main idea: Random fires.

Description: Have random fires happen inside unowned properties and out in nature when it is a high temperature. Unowned properties will have smoke detectors and alert firefighters when a fire starts. This will only happen when a firefighter is on duty.

With the weather app you can see how hot it is, if it's hot and/or dry fires in nature could start.

This could also be disabled from happening at the bazaar to avoid unnecessary loss of items sold.

Pros:
- More people will go, firefighter
- More legal ways to make money in a fun way
- The map will feel more alive

Cons:
- Could cause lag
- Possible minges (but what feature won't have that)

optional: During stormy weather, lightning could cause fires as well?

Why not happening only if a firefighter is online, otherwise cops just have to wait and make a perimeter or something like that.

I like it.

Would make firefighter a lot more playable instead of basing in fire station forever with nothing to do, because patrolling you can only do with the other car which is useless, and you can't do anything while patrolling.

I like the random fires in nature 100% (forest for example, fuck those fishermen!!) but I'm not sure about unowned properties, in certain circumstances it could be very chaotic.

imagine the lag.

You mean the same lag that is caused currently by fires but that last longer and spread more because they aren't taken out because no one plays firefighter?

With this idea, if there's a fire, there HAS to be a firefighter who can put it out. If this is too much of an issue I also suggest that once a random fire has spawned, another one can't randomly spawn until there are no other fires in the map.

Depends how it is set up. If there is massive fires that are left to spread in different areas of the map then maybe so, but logically things would not be done like that.

I'd imagine if this were to be accepted then firstly the fires would only happen when there is a firefighter on duty, as the suggestion states:

. This will only happen when a firefighter is on duty.

also, I wouldn't imagine they would allow for fires to randomly start too often, otherwise it would end up being pretty out of control. If they set one fire every 20(?) minutes then this issue should be avoided.

I like the idea to get more people to use the firefighter job though. The job is getting more and more ignored unless there is a huge fire that people know about.

I personally think it may be better if another fire doesn’t spawn in until a set time after the current one is put out, that way if the current fire does somehow get out of control you won’t have to worry about fires starting all over the map at the same time

to be honest with you guys fire barely changes my FPS

do you know what does destroy my FPS to the point where the screen looks like a powerpoint slideshow? the burnt surface decals that fire leaves behind

The smoke detector idea is good. However I don't see why stuff would randomly burn because of the temperature its rather unrealistic, because its not like wood is gonna burn out of nowhere because its hot outside.

How do you think forest fires start during heatwaves?

prolonged heat and lack of moisture give an excellent birthing place for fires especially in vegetated areas like forests. And while air quality in itself can't make grass spontaneously combust there can be things like glass bottles acting like a magnification glass that causes a flame. All you need is one spark from a faulty powerline there is an extreme amount of possibilities to cause a fire. But seeing as this isn't real life that aspect is going to have to be imagined and I don't really see the problem in that considering this is a roleplay server.

people say shit like add random fires so firefighter will be fun but will it really be fun?

i cant say driving somewhere in a shithouse huge firetruck that doesnt move very fast and turns like a pensioner doing a three pointer then driving back to the station to do it all again sounds much fun myself

I greatly support this.

Amazingly, this function is a lot easier to implement and works way better than it sounds.

Rather than fires working to where they grow while firefighters aren't on, set it to where they start off and slowly diminish when they aren't on, and when firefighters are on, let them work how they usually do. But also add the random fire script.
Personally, I would love this. I don't give TWO shits about sitting in the station for hours waiting for some dumb fuck to light his house on fire or throw gas in the bazaar, but this would shorten that waiting period and make things a whole lot more fun.

FROM EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

The smoke detector idea is good. However I don't see why stuff would randomly burn because of the temperature its rather unrealistic, because its not like wood is gonna burn out of nowhere because its hot outside.
Duff, leaves, and random collections of sawdust will combust very quickly in the forest and will cause wildland fires. Anybody with google can confirm this.

To you, it might not sound fun, but to me, this sounds fantastic. It's not a bad idea to implement, and it adds that extra flair to everything. Server wasn't built for one person.

As I said, I'll spend hours on the job staring at boring shit. Listening to radio and OOC is a good occupier and if I really need to, I'll just play something else while I listen for calls. It's the nature of the role, and not everyone likes it.

I've thought about a feature like this for quite some time now. Firefighter is quite a boring job for the standard pay and when there is a fire there are no firefighters.
