Suggestion Title: Increase punishment severity of hostage sits
Suggestion Description: Making the punishment for it more intimidating so that people are not as careless about sabotaging actual roleplay.

Why should this be added?:
- Deter rule-breaks
- Take back the right of all the people who suffer from the stupidity of a rulebreak in this exceptionally detrimental case.
- Allow players to feel more comfortable on both sides in roleplaying what should be incentivized
- Allow people to make crime more nuanced and be creative
- Impartial enforcement is the essence of enforcing a harsher treatment to rulebreaks. Everyone wins here, except a rule-breaker.

What negatives could this have?:
- Newer players would be prone to making silly mistakes and ruin the RP for everyone. Leaving the staff to consolidate between a harsh punishment or a lesser punishment.
- Does not entirely address all the grievances of people regarding the desire for better hostage sits

What problem would this suggestion solve?: Hostage sits require the right time and the right places done by some of us who actually want to roleplay. This is not your average rdm, or some player mugging in public.

People lose more than items here.

The event involves a big portion, if not the whole PD + an organization + a hostage + EMS + Staff oversight all ruined by one dummy who breaks rules.

Time, items, money, potential enjoyment, memorability, and more is wasted.

RP like hostage sits has been desired by the community for a while, and I know that regulation to enforce a level of standard for it to deter wrong is at least a step in the right direction.

+1 i recommend this so people Take hostage sits more seriously and not js shoot even with a hostage

I’m curious, what do you mean by making the punishments harsher? Are you referring to PD punishments or server bans?

Also, how severe are you suggesting these punishments should be?

This would be a good idea. But also i think the questions when applying to become an officer should be alot harder so not everyone can easily become part of the plpd.

See i agree but also we rtfo where you just need a functioning braincell to get an AR
But i agree in one respect think about it this way your friend murdered someone called ten you go rescue them to then turn yourself in for a lower sentence due to PLPD policy seems abit unfair (i have done this and it works) so in theory to deter people from PD raiding you ignore the policy or they start shooting cop which breaks RP

What im trying to say is RP wise it would suffer in one aspect but most people just like doing the shooty shooty bang bang anyway

Hostage situations require collaboration between players to create and maintain a shared fiction. Given hostage sits are typically only used as a means to the end of winning it makes it difficult to want to bother.

People say they want good hostage sits but in like 50% of cases they're just salty that they lost the last one that they participated in. Classic prisoner dilemma stuff really. The only good hostage sits I've seen have been hostage sits for the sake of hostage sits, which isn't allowed.

I think PD punishments could be harsher on those who blatantly disregard hostage situations such as an outright dismissal, it sucks when at times a lot of potential from a situation is completely fucked by one idiot and so that should get the memo in their head if they become intend on becoming an officer again and actually understand the policies in place, maybe include this on the officer quiz? Idk what’s on there right now. The server has a consistent flow of new players, make the message clear to them when it comes to this and have a better a stance, it won’t fully prevent it but can potentially mitigate it given the foreseen consequences.

In cases where a shot was fired in attempt to actually subdue and save the hostage despite attempt negotiations or as such can be looked at differently with context in mind.

I personally do enjoy, as an officer handling hostage situations with hostage takers who are willing to negotiate. The main issues are that there will either be a new officer who shoots the hostage takers or a civilian who just wants to shoot or use a grenade, which realistically isn’t fun to deal with.

i disagree that punishments need to be harsher because someone just wants PvP because not everyone is realistically encouraged to roleplay. I believe the punishments handed out most times to anyone who does break rules/policies are usually handed fair punishments anyways.

i think if you want hostage situations to be well roleplayed, try encourage it. But remember not everyone is willing to roleplay
