Preface
Welcome to the November 2023 edition of the Monthly Roundup. This newsletter is designed to keep our employees and the public updated with any changes in the city or department. Attached to the newsletter will be a message from the office of the Chiefs of Department, awards, key moments and careers. Any additions to the newsletter please contact Human Resources via helpdesk.
Message from the Chief
Throughout November, there have been more substantial changes to the department this month, especially when it comes to being on duty.
Last month, following further input from Dispatch command, a new callsign system was rolled out. Not only do we now have more callsigns, but the new system allows for the roles and capabilities of each unit to be more easily identified by its callsign. Additionally, more quality-of-life updates have been pushed for the dispatch role based on feedback from the Dispatch division. The jail and ticket book menus have also been overhauled, integrating the Paralake penal code, with the ticket price and jail sentence sliders capped at the maximum punishment as prescribed in law, decreasing the chances of excessive punishment.
The new plpd.online website continues to receive almost daily updates with work recently beginning on the Internal Affairs system. The Office of Development Services is currently looking for a UX developer to assist with cleaning up the look and feel of the new website; have a look at the application on the careers page. Don’t forget, you can check out the current test build at https://plpdtest.perpheads.com and give your feedback and ideas to Fredy and Sindarin.
I would like to welcome and congratulate the new junior command members who have recently joined the Traffic, TFU, and Patrol command teams. I look forward to seeing all the ideas you bring to the divisions. Finally, congratulations to Sindarin, who, due to their outstanding and ongoing work on the new PLPD website, has been promoted to the Head of Development Services.
As always, if you have anything you want to ask or tell us, feel free to reach out to me or Hayden.
- Deputy Chief of Department John Davids
