A lovely man by the name of @Spooky recommended me OBS (Open Broadcasting Software). I recently downloaded it and wanted to record gameplay footage of a corrupt save file on Portal Stories: Mel. However when I record it and render the video it comes out as this horrible, laggy mess. I changed the settings to match the framerate of my game (I.E 40 FPS) but it still comes out like aids. I was wondering what type of hardware specs you need to run it smoothly and if there are any settings I should change or if I downloaded the wrong type of file (eg. 32 bit program on a 64 bit operating system). The current PC I am situated on has these specs:
AMD Athlon II dual core processor @ 3.2 GHz
4 GB DDR3 RAM
AMD HD 6670 1GB DDR5

The PC isn't permanent, it's just while I'm at my dad's for a few weeks.

Thanks children.

Try using the x64 version as it comes with it.

And try using these video settings:

I get the same problem with OBS, I am looking for a way to fix it. I will update this post if I find anything.

I would recommend using FRAPS but be careful about how large the file sizes can actually get.
