Description of the idea:
Add some form of pepperball guns to PERP.
Typically a pepper ball gun is an adapted version of a .43 or .50 cal paintball gun designed to fire pepper balls, a plastic cased spherical ammunition filled with Capsaicin or another irritant powder.
Typically pepperball guns are less lethal options for crowd control, violent detainment, self / home defence, and YouTube challenges.
Should definitely be a police item but maybe it could also be made to be craftable for civilians? Maybe it could be legalised as a concealed carry item.
The general premise of its police usage could work as such:
- Spawnable by officers of a significant rank. (Corporal - sergeant?)
- Spawns in the trunk of TFU cars alongside 5 magazines / 1 spare reload (if a hopper fed model is used)
- Alternative to the taser.
Possible functions of the pepperball gun:
- Upon hit: Screen obstruction that lasts a few seconds (5) per hit, orange puff of dust around impact area. Players are forced to cough during the duration of being peppered.
- Repeated hits: Slows down players, activates an even longer and more obstructive blindness mode, could also force surrender maybe?
Ideas for models of possible pepperball guns:
Pistol styled:
Concealed C02 canister powered pepperball pistol often used by civilians and security guards.
IIRC this model of pepperball gun is in service with certain departments in the U.K. based off of a tippman paintball pistol.
Rifle / primary styled:
Could be adapted from the MP5K model.
AR15 styled pepperball gun that is in use with the US armed forces and Police forces worldwide. Also a popular civilian choice. Magazine fed.
Alternatively an existing shotgun model could be retextured into a pepperball gun for development speed.
Why should this be added? (pros):
- More incentive and ability in taking dangerous suspects alive.
- More roleplay possibilities
- Could shift metas in combat
- Less casualties.
- Could be used on people who have a weapon in passive or even attack stance.
What negatives could this have? (cons):
- Guaranteed misuse, cops using them on minor crimes or in general cops shooting each other with them.
- If civilians have them they could be misused or abused in the sense that someone could run around shooting people with them for no reason in The same way people run around punching people for no reason.
