Suggestion Title: RTU Spikes
Suggestion Description: Make spike strips an item that is available to Road Traffic Unit exclusively.
When there are no RTU on, Senior Officers and above are granted spike strip equipment just incase cops need them at low player count.
Why should this be added?:
- Chases last longer and are more clean chases that are fun for everyone
- More people sign up for RTU
- Officers that did not ever receive training on how to properly use Spikes, can look over to RTU to learn how to optimally utilize them and train the muscle memory to not leave them around the road. Similarly to how people look over to TFU and learn how to properly use combat tactics.
- No more do roads have to stay closed for a pro-longed amount of time due to inexperienced officers leaving spikes behind. Or having to deal with a spiked car cause they left their spikes on the road.
- There is an extremely annoying issue right now with Chop Shop where if you get a car down at the Pub, you are screwed by ANY cop setting up spike strips at the top of harbor lane and immediately ruining it all for you. While this isn't a direct fix, it does hinder that immediate shutdown of roleplay because that situation is very shitty to be in. Furthermore, RTU and generally any more experienced cops already understand and operate in with higher leniency when dealing with criminals who are just genuinely trying to have a good time instead of try harding or minging like newer cops do. Meaning, those same good cops are the ones equipped with the Spike strips instead of just anyone.
What negatives could this have?:
- A lot of people are not gonna like this because it's a "nerf" in a way.
- When no RTU is on and no SO is on, cops are out of spike strips.
What problem would this suggestion solve?: Spikes are a powerful tool that any officer gets. It is insanely dangerous for every single officer to be given spike strips to freely spike on the road, especially officers not specifically trained or tasked with dealing with traffic incidents or the aftermath of dangerous crashes (RTCs). More people would sign up for RTU with this addition making chases more clean and organized due to them being trained professionals that are involved in the pursuit with more equipment to precisely aid them in their duties. Patrol officers aren't necessarily required or trained to pursue cars that are so fast that spikes are necessary at common points of commute.
