Hey there, I had a similar problem when v2 first released and trims were introduced. My problem was that I had every content pack etc downloaded and everything else was working properly apart from trims and metal types. This fixed it for me:
Make sure that under <options> <multiplayer> you have 'Allow all custom files from server' selected:

I remember of someone asking for a refund because he bought gold trim but that car didn't have trims so he couldn't see any difference, this might be your case.
Try asking someone who owns a car with gold trims to show it to you, or vice versa show your car to someone who can see gold trims. If someone can see gold trims on your car then you still have an insolved problem

Edited: I'm not going to make a refund request for this, but 200k is 200k and i got Dodge Viper now so. This thread can just be removed
