Texas Holdem is one of the most common types of poker everyone gets 2 cards and after pre flop 3 cards are put down in the middle this continues until there are 5 cards then everyone shows their cards the winner has the highest 5 cards
Phases are the following
Pre-flop is the start it is before any cards are placed this is when blinds and early raises can be seen.
Flop is when the first 3 cards show up this continues until 4 cards are out.
River is the last phase to make choices it is when 5 cards are on the table and it is the final chance to back out or raise.
Reveal all players show their cards the winner has the highest cards including the 5 on the table
As you might notice people end up with pairs and such these are combinations which can help you win and I will explain them lowest to highest.
High Card is when you have no pairs or combinations so the highest card you have usually plays 2 if necessary.
Pair is simply 2 matching cards
Two pair is two matching cards of two seperate kinds
Three of a kind is 3 matching cards
Straight all 5 cards go in order this can be in only the correct order.
Four of a kind is 4 matching cards
Full house is when you usually have one pair and a three of a kind
Flush is 5 cards of the same suit it does not matter about order
Straight Flush is the second best hand all cards must go in order and be in the same suit
Royal Flush is the unbeatable and most rare hand in poker you can only get it with the cards 10 A K Q and J every one of them must be suited
Bluffing deception is a powerful weapon in poker that can turn the worst hand into the best if done right this is mostly done by playing aggressive and dropping hints regarding good cards
Split pots only occur is someone has the same hand as you in this case the pot is split evenly to all winning players. Note that sometimes its possible to get straights, full house and even a flush.
Pocket hands are when you have a pair as your two cards most play aggressive because why not when you could have two aces pre flop they can also lead to very good hands which makes them good to start with.
