Using wallhacks in demos

None of us want to play with cheaters. It's not enjoyable or fair to people who are trying to play the game how it was designed to be played. Finding and catching cheaters can take a considerable amount of time and effort, and is generally something the staff team don't want to have to constantly do. To aid us in this, we're going to make a change to how we treat suspected cheaters.

We often receive a claim that some people only have a cheat engine installed so that they find out more information when demos. More often than not, this is a complete lie, however it can often be hard to prove one way of the other. We don't want members of the community to be funding the very cheat developers who waste so much of our time. We cannot stop people buying cheats, or using them on other servers, but from now onwards:
It is no longer acceptable to have a cheat engine installed for the sole reason of being able to use it in demos.
I strongly suggest that anyone who does have a cheat installed, but does not use it elsewhere, uninstall it and reduce the risk of being incorrectly accused of cheating.

Some of you may be aware that the staff team already have a script which is used to display an "ESP" in demos. We have also recently updated it to include the bodies of players, although not their exact models. So that you are able to view people through walls in demos, but don't have to fund a cheat developer to do so, we are going to share this code with you below.

This is just the initial public release of this code, I plan on moving it over to github eventually and allowing other people to make improvements to it. It is very rough and is far from perfect, but it is much better than not having anything at all.

  1. Right click on this link and save it locally: files.tinycoding.com/ESP.lua
  2. Move the ESP.lua file to your garrysmod/lua folder
  3. Join the perpheads server before playing the demo, to make sure the models are loaded
  4. Play the demo
  5. Type this command into console: sv_allowcslua 1
  6. lua_openscript_cl ESP.lua
Get to view the demo without floating heads, less errors, names correct and more...

Edit: For the avoidance of doubt, of LUA scripts that are just run the same way as this script are perfectly acceptable as they can't be run directly on server.
