V6 Feedback Thread

I said it was corrupted by the lore. There's a key difference here.
We are actually trying to improve the map to something that will improve gameplay and will be more liked by everyone in the community.
We read all of the criticism from everyone (including your original post) and try to find the commonalities that seem to be the most pressing issues.
The problem with this particular point is that I don't believe anyone else in this community cares about the lore being "corrupted" by INFRA. Most players do not even know about the easter eggs, or the distributed lore around the map. It does not affect gameplay in any meaningful way.
So this point taking up almost half of your post (albeit mostly images) leaves a sour taste to me.

This was not intended to insult anyone
I don't think you are insulting anyone. I just don't see how posting this again after we already read it will help us improve the map because we already read it.

That's okay. This is an incredibly niche opinion to have, and that's why it's precisely defined as my opinion. You can agree with it or not. I wanted to give my feedback on everything I could think about giving feedback on in regards to V6, so that's why I included that segment to begin with.

I already said this in another reply, but I was under the assumption that the entire V5 WEEKEND suggestion would be closed as a result of the apparently off-topic disccussion that was going on. I made this post by copy pasting everything I said, then I tried to expand upon what I had already said, while also adding more to my thoughts about the homage paid to INFRA. I also wanted to let other people add their own criticisms and complements, either by agreeing or disagreeing with mine, which seemed to have worked.

Just this discussion alone has confirmed to me that we are open to having large-scale discussions about the contents of the server outside of suggestions like the V5 WEEKEND suggestion or the shoutbox. I understand this was likely already true before, but as someone who is only now starting to play more on the server after taking an extended break in November, it's a breath of fresh air to see that people are open to agreeing or disagreeing with anything I say at all. This is what I wanted in the first place - a large-scale discussion about what we think about V6 and the gamemode in general.

I have issues with V6. They are as follows:

The map is broadly too big with streets being too wide. I preferred V5's relative closeness in most cases.
I miss the dense forest trees, but I understand this is unfeasible.
Storage being so close to PD is problematic for numerous reasons.
Everything just feels like it takes too long to get to.
The roads are still too wide for roadspikes in most cases
There are some annoying barriers on the edge of roads that, while realistic, do not interact well with the vehicle system
The map tries to be, but is not very walkable.

But the easter egg is awesome and the general design is pretty cool, I just wish it was about 30% smaller

Some feedback I have for V6 is the forest area feels like a lot of space that is unused on the map or serves little to no purpose other than an additional area to drive through. Theres currently only like 4 properties in the forest area and there very rarely ever used. I also think considering the forest is an entire mugging zone and kind of supposed to be a "danger area" not like a KOS zone but somewhere where you would expect more crime or things of that nature to happen it really doesnt feel like this is the case. Theres only like 1 drug dealer spot thats near the forest area even. And other than the occasional person basing there it feels like there largely no real reason to go to the forest at all or even walk in it. Maybe for V7 adding some more structures, game mechanics, or even new transportation or jobs could make it feel like the area isnt as much of a deadzone.

We are actively trying to figure out exactly what should be changed in V7, so it'd actually be helpful for us if people shared their gripes with specific properties, areas, etc. that we can then work on improving. (and most of the points in your original post are actually very helpful with regards to that)
However, some of the things people dislike about the map are very specific to the individual person and might not be shared across the community.
This is why we need is opinions from a wide variety of people so that we can make it the best possible for everyone in the community.

Unfortunately, this has not really happened in this thread, which I am clearly partially to blame for, so I apologize for that.

The main things that I think are not that good in V6 are:

-Bazaar is a bit weird. I think if the shops were put closer to each other, that V5 Bazaar feeling will be back, as from what I've seen it's population didn't really change that much, it's just that there's a bit of distance put in between them, making the whole thing look lifeless. (Bazaar being one of the main reasons I would want to see v5 again, I agree it's mostly nostalgia but nothing beats v5 bazaar)

-The map being very open in some areas (an example could be suburbs), very sniper friendly (which is a good and a bad thing at the same time, depends on everyone's play style)

-Storage is very close to spawn/main city itself. Moving it, even in the suburbs would be nicer (maybe replacing the subs park behind metro station)

-Lots of placeholder buildings that have huge potential (possibly the map limits don't allow them to be used), such as the city motel, or even the motel in the forest. I would love to see some apartments there, the interior could be like it is in room 12, removing the furniture inside.

-Highway doesn't have those little breakdown zones like it did in v5.

-Main areas are too far apart, making the map feel very large, limiting player interactions, even on 128/128 (due to the fact that more than half of that player count is mostly rotting in bases)

-Another reason why I would like to play on V5 again (mostly nostalgia, I agree): V6 looks too modern (for me). I somewhat kind of liked the "filthy" textures that were used in V5. (This is just personal preference tho)

Even tho this was WIP market street, for me this style is much nicer than the modern look that V6 has (Again, personal preference)

Other than what I've said above, v6 is a great map.

I also agree with the placeholder buildings, its really cool to have buildings especially in areas like slums and such that would otherwise look visually empty but it would be really cool to have access to certain builings that you unfortunately cant use atm, Movie theater with a working large screen would be cool. maybe giving some use to the shop stalls in the above ground bussiness area that arent being used, or the ones with NPCs in them that no one ever goes too.

I just think it should have the second floor back. It doesn't matter if there are shops in it or not. Maybe we could just have the 1st floor have player-owned shops and the 2nd floor having NPC shops. I think V5 Bazaar was not very fun to play when shootouts happened every 5 seconds.

-The map being very open in some areas (an example could be suburbs), very sniper friendly (which is a good and a bad thing at the same time, depends on everyone's play style)
This is good, imo. Snipers with long-range optics were barely used anyways because of the draw distance in V5.

I'm 50/50 on this. There's a benefit for both sides.

I'd love to see some kind of workaround that allows there to be more properties. I don't think its possible, unfortunately.

-Main areas are too far apart, making the map feel very large, limiting player interactions, even on 128/128 (more than half that player count is mostly rotting in bases)
I don't think this is a huge problem, I think it's just a factor of the map limits not allowing more properties to be added. If there were more properties in each district, it would feel a lot better to play.

-Another reason why I would like to play on V5 again (mostly nostalgia, I agree): V6 looks too modern (for me). I somewhat kind of liked the "filthy" textures that were used in V5. (This is just personal preference tho)
V6 has it's fair share of grungy and filthy textures, but I think I get what you mean. It was probably a combination of the lighting and quality of textures used.

I would love to see something like this (from cut content) come back in V7.

It looks nice but I think that fps would be much lower than it was in v5's bazaar. I also believe that the main activity would still remain in the Bazaar itself, not the city shops outside.

Also can we please remove whatever these funny looking indicators are? (I have no idea what they are called)
My car has some sort of attraction to them as whenever I perform a cool little drift or drive fast, it smashes like a bowling ball into them.

please :)

I understand why these exist but that doesn't make them any less annoying LOL I've probably crashed my car on one of these at least a hundred times

When I first saw this building in the teasers, I thought it was Tidals and that you could live in it.
I believe it would've been such a nice apartment building, similarly to slums, having a more "lived in/filthy" look inside.

Another example of a placeholder building that has a lot of potential. (maybe just me)

I think the idea of getting the community together in order to make changes and get feedback is one thing. I think the way YOU [the owner of this post] went about it. With this DUMB ass story about the "story" or whatever the fuck just doesnt work. We are playing GMOD and they worked TIRELESSLY for a long time on this map and to "politely" shit on it by making up some long ass tangent about the story is insane. But pop off king.

I to think V6 is TOOOOO BIGGGG and that means a lot coming from me. BUTT yah I hate this post except the actual feedback.
