Punishment Type: Warning
Appeal Type: Dispute[Evidence]
Which staff member issued the punishment?: @Mxdium
How long were you banned/blacklisted for?: Not Applicable
Your Steam Name: Ambrose
Your Roleplay Name: Gabriel Kruger
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:1:51575752
Why were you punished?: "But he had not actually done anything that allows you to shoot him, he was simply walking around with his weapon out like any seasoned player does in the forest Mxdium 12:47" "It doesn't matter what his intentions were, you shot him for simply having a gun out in the forest. He had not yet done anything that allows you to kill him so that makes this a breach of 2.5. " Mxdium 12:51
Why should this appeal be considered?: I do not feel like this warning makes much sense, you can see in my clip pretty clearly that Johnny Pablo was initially driving past me as evidenced by the very loud brakes when he slammed them, in order to reverse so he could catch up with me before running up and approaching me with his gun drawn. It's pretty obvious that he was there to mug me, there's no other plausible reason for why he suddenly wanted to walk over other than nefarious reasons.
The reasoning that "His intentions don't matter, he hadn't yet done anything that allows you to shoot him" does not make sense either - of course his intentions matter. Am I really supposed to pretend like he is merely walking over to say "hi" unless he points his gun and starts firing? That's a bit silly considering it's the forest.
A lot of the justification for this warning seems focused on the idea that I should act like he's just any other player taking a stroll in the forest with his weapon drawn, like any "seasoned player would" - but he very clearly was not doing that?
I genuinely feel like I acted with common sense and in a way that ensured my own survival/avoided getting hurt. I did not start firing until I noticed his gun was drawn.
Additional Information: https://medal.tv/games/garrys-mod/clips/jRm6tPGTtUzJsO1kV?invite=cr-MSxBWHIsNDY5NTA2NzM - This is Johnny Pablo's clip, i'd like to point out that it appears he intentionally removed this prior context from his clip when making his F6, unless he really does only have a 10 second clip time. I'm not sure if this unintentionally biased Mxdium despite me showing him the full version of events, but still interesting.
