Stop saying and start doing

I think it’s time the roleplay issue was talked about properly.
Within the last few months i have seen continuous posts talking about the “death of roleplay” and that “roleplay is dying”.

I think that the biggest issue is clear, those people who take the time to post on the forums expressing how they feel about roleplay do not take the time to actually attempt to roleplay themselves.

I have seen, and continue to see people roleplaying that others do not mention.
Players such as those involved in the Road traffic checkpoint posted by Kuba, The fentanyl Yoga Race and all the other individualists who stand out and actually try to input roleplay into situations.

If people spent less time talking on the forums about these issues and went into the server to properly push roleplay than other people might start tagging along and joining in.

Another issue i see is people saying “Roleplay gets you banned!!”
We all know this is not true, roleplaying doesn’t get you banned unless you decide to completely disregard the rules the server set in place. Just because you Unjustifiably shot someone cause you were “roleplaying a killer” doesn’t work or the server would be full of people randomly killing others for no reason. It isn’t the roleplay that gets you banned, it’s your actions (i know this very well).

PVP - People continue to say that PVP is ruining the server, When in reality if it wasn’t for the PVP the server most likely would not be as alive as it is. It is not the actual PVP that ruins the server, it’s certain Toxic players who decide to actually ruin the fun for those roleplaying that put this idea into other players heads. Toxicity will not just “go away” and there will always be toxic players but just because one of them ruined what you were doing doesn’t mean you should stop doing it. I think people do not realise not EVERYONE enjoys roleplaying by building fun bases, Shop designs and communal areas and i say each to their own, if you want to build communal areas and someone comes along to ruin it, report them.

I think the issue is that people should stop complaining on the forums and get out into the server and start roleplaying, building communal areas, hotels, Cafe’s or issues will remain the same. Agree or disagree with me if you choose but this is how i see the issue.

Edit - I also think people do not realise how much potential to roleplay within the server there actually is, if it was not for the developers taking their time to input new things, New props. A whole new redesigned forest with a lot of potential in the recent 6.1 update we would not have as much to work with. There is a lot of potential and things people can do now, so be creative and do them. Just don’t break obvious rules and complain afterwards

This is pretty much the solution. Just get out there and try some things.

Or a quick fix by the owners would be to remove the huge Serious RP! handle on the server browser then there is absolutely nothing to complain about because then Roleplaying is not a expected element.

The only thing I would disagree with is the uptalking the potential of Forest and the Alleys because for RP they are pretty much useless since it is just a guaranteed mugging. Try to RP as a Hunter in the forest or Hobo in some alley, you will get mugged constantly and everything taken from you.

Here's the issue, the entire time we were doing stuff for RP, we were being harassed by those who believe "pvp is superior".
If people weren't such pricks, we would have made so much more builds.

sort of had this issue when we did traffic check points, people ramming our cones and such just because it was a minor inconvenience. Hard to remain motivated to attempt good rp when u got shitters like that

Hobo in some alley
If you are roleplaying as a hobo, someone mugging you won't really get something from it.

Hunter in the forest
This would be VALID RP if there was actual animals in the forest to hunt and the law doesn't really allow you to do it either.

When we speak of the "Death of RP", it's the fact that a bunch of points that may have triggered this:
  1. It became "acceptable" to go AFK when getting arrested, because you'll just be dragged to jail
  2. It became "acceptable" to talk OOC in RP situations. I remember everyone would audibly gasp if you mentioned OOC concepts IC
  3. It became "acceptable" to not give a ticket to murder suspects (which then removes an aspect from trying to avoid arrest)
  4. I also believe that a lot of tension between players which allowed certain RP moments (kidnapping, annoying one another), started getting enforced more and more by us, the staff team.
  5. Us fixing vehicles for players causing collisions. Spectating players, I've noticed they treat it as a "Why would I bother trying to get my money back when a staff member will fix it for me"
  6. Overenforcement of building rules. Let's be honest, most bases are stale and boring due to a lot more props being added, which then got forbidden from the primary usage of props. Every base is expected to be predictable to allow for a more "fair and competitive" nature, further promoting the lack of creativity.
  7. The PD plays a major part in roleplay and how players engage with one another. It's one of the most RP-focused jobs. Though with an insane increase in the amount of shootouts, officers are unable to do so
Keep in mind though that staff have already agreed that points 1 and 2 will be more strictly enforced. So please report players that do ruin the quality of RP.

We also fail to realize how a SINGLE PLAYER can entirely change how the experience is for everyone else. For instance a player was hosting Church gatherings and kept making it an RP area. In turn this somehow made the entire area of the forest in v6 (prior to 6.1) more lively.

Instead of beating the dead horse hundreds of times, these are questions, I'd like to ask you all, to improve roleplay:
  • What are you willing to do to improve roleplay?
  • What have you done to improve roleplay?
  • How do you interact with players when something doesn't go your way?
  • Is there something staff should change to improve it (more strict or less strict enforcement on certain rules)?

For ur point 7 I'd like to add that the go to "What's your name and badge number I'm making an IA" or "Do (what ever) and I'll IA" ruins the flow of pd, I'm all for making actual ia complaints on poor quality officers but when you say this in bad faith it's almost like saying "this is failrp I'm making an f6". Idk if its just me but I'd like to see something in the rules about it

I think in terms of RP, that's as realistic as it'll get to real life arrests when it comes to "I'll make an IA". You are trying your hardest to avoid jail, by threatening the officer. In some cases it may work and make them doubt themselves...

This shouldn't disturb roleplay, as long as the officer is confident in their actions. If this makes you doubt your choices, then you weren't sure in what you did to begin with.

You're telling me I can publically mug a sweater for 30k if they tier my car driving down the wrong side of the highway? Bet

Here's the issue, the entire time we were doing stuff for RP, we were being harassed by those who believe "pvp is superior".
If people weren't such pricks, we would have made so much more builds.
this is one very small example, the photo i provided. im more than sure @MalekIsWeird only wanted to started a pursuit for the fun of it, however thats strictly my belief and he can give us a brief description of the incident if he wants to.

Another example would be the time me @Akeno Via and Cappe Franklin were making a hotel/bar around the storage area. We were being strongly harrased by some people i dont want to mention because i dont want this thread to turn into beef. they were spamming props in our builds, flinging props whenever something was left unfrozen and constantly blocking us with their cars and stuff like such. it gotten to the point where they started blocking our props.
this whole thing was because of some previous unpleasent interactions with said users, which i believe accured during shootouts.

the problem was, instead of being helped by staff, we were hit with even more harrasment, getting our builds deleted because there were random props inside of the build that were placed by the individuals harrasing us. After that, we got accused of baiting shootouts because again, some staff members completly allowed them to place props and block our entries constantly. We abided by every rules that we could find, were as passive as we possibly could and we still got blamed for it.

previous to that build, me and @Akeno Via made a caffee which turned out beautiful. instead of getting shut down by staff, @GP literally gave us a big coffee prop to advertise out built. This literally made everyones day and it was a very much appreciated gesture.

The only staff members that actually at least attempted help us in that situation with the hotel were @Medium and @sidd . i believe they both deserve a shout for the fact that they at least tried.

Thank you to @GP especially and if anyone else helped with these builds, please let me know and i will be more than happy to make a recommendation for you!
