Criminal Discussion

@Acerius Kronen has the courage to say that and it is indeed true for example as50 this gun was so fun to play before now am moving with it like a turtle and the reload while sprinting thats just so aids lets not talk about the crouch jump thats a game its supposed to be fun no full serious rp i know those guns are heavy and you cant do most of the jumps in real life but come on its game
All of the things mentioned here were restricted because people took them way to far. Being able to sprint and reload was fine for years until people took it too far and everyone was whipping their mouse around in circles while full sprinting and reloading. Jumping and immediately shooting was fine for years until everyone was sprint jumping around corners. AS50 and M82 were fine for years until every single bank robbery by one of the big orgs had 50%+ people with AS50s.

As for shop robberies and other criminal activities in general our overall philosophy is to try and keep large scale shootouts away from areas of higher player activity and key map areas (City, Bazaar) as to not negatively impact players just trying to go about their business. For example the much suggested Jennifer's robberies for older Paralake versions were denied because having the clothing stores locked down for 25% of the time isn't ideal. In future map updates we may address this but with V6 and all previous map versions there haven't really been great places for this. We also have to try and balance the amount of shootouts going on around the map with the available PD resources so that cops aren't just constantly rushing from shootout to shootout.

I hate to say it. But if the few of you who do everything you can to find every possible exploit and advantage considered how your playstyle impacts the rest of the players, we wouldn't have to nerf the "fun stuff". Because trust me, the "fun stuff" when you are raiding bank with 5 AS50s jumping and spinning around is not "fun stuff" to anyone else.

I mean come on. This was just brought to my attention. There is a small group of people who pull this kinda shit. Any sain person can see this is not how you are meant to play, and that this gives you an unintended and unfair advantage. So no we don't hate pvpers. Hell we built a whole map from the ground up with more fair and balanced combat as one of the primary goals, and then have continued to update it for the past 9 months with new properties and balance improvements. Our job is to make the server most fun for the majority of players. So yes, we have to nerf things when a small group decide to abuse them in ways that aren't fun for others. And if you're unhappy about that, look to the people that forced us to do it.

I'm not a negative person, and I don't like to get involved in this kinda stuff. But I wanted to make it clear that there is always a reason behind a decision we make, and it is never "we hate pvpers". We are never looking for the next way to make the game "less fun", and I think I speak for the whole dev team when I say we'd rather not have this cat and mouse chase needing to nerf and patch every little quirk because they will get exploited by a few people. But if nerfing some fun features is the price for keeping the server fair and fun for the majority of the playerbase (and especially new players), then it is a price worth paying.

who is that in the doorway? i swear it has never been abused to my knowledge!!!

I think we should add some more cool cars and cool car customisation instead of this messy discussion about what is ok and what is not ok and what needs nerf and what doesn't cus it will be a unending battle between everyone and it won't have any result but everybody likes badass cars so I think we need more badass cars and badass customizaiton

Idk start ur own org then. Last I remember orgs like GS9 were basing with orgs like Hoodrats and Mensa. A lot of you choose to zerg because you dislike losing, then now go on complaining about how it's boring when there's nobody to raid/nobody that raids you. Of course people are going to be discouraged from continuing growing their org if they just get raided by 5-15 sweats every hour.
@roos tbf you could quite literally just do this lol ofc there's nothing to raid when you literally zerg with (or know) over a quarter of the active crim playerbase or just start a new organisation being in a new org is fun cause there's stuff to grind for and maybe you could work on that instead of constantly bragging about how you would be number 1 in a gmod roleplay server and how perp needs faceit or whatever.

as i said our org is slowly dying in the past week we’ve been around 3 to 4 people and you guys are quite alot

Maybe now you guys understand how its like for other orgs when you guys are now the ones being raided or raiding bigger groups
i dont care about that i still manage to counter alot and kill alot and get out with profit

I think when it comes to adding things in for criminal players, we really have to think carefully when doing so as what could be seen as small change could have a major impact overall, like when it comes to things such as balancing these changes and how it affects the overall player base.

I am probably echoing what peeps and Carrot have already mentioned here a little here. However, some changes that have been put in place were to help balance things but keep it fun for the majority of players. One crucial thing I would like to mention here is when the mechanical change was implemented that stopped people being able to sprint and jump into a room to instantly pop someone in the face. This change came about when we had a lot of 3.3 reports coming in, where a large number of players were upset with people just jumping into a room and shooting them, not even having enough time to react to it. Since that change was implemented, the amount of punishments handed out for that rule has significantly decreased, stopping those doing this from being able to break the rule this way and keeping them able to play on the server. There are even adjustments in the map to help prevent other types of 3.3 cases such as standing on the barbed wire fences at the homeless camp

It would be great to add lots of stuff for criminals but we don't want this in the long run to have a negative effect.

I do understand that there hasn't been a lot for criminals in regards to a "crim update" but like Acerius said in the earlier thread. You can re-suggest some older denied suggestions as the development landscape has changed quite a bit since these were denied. I would like to see what people want in criminal roleplay that's not just new guns or leaderboards with K/Ds like it's Call of Duty or Battlefield.

I want to contest and say that it rather feels like a stretch to ask for proper meaningful changes only for the suggestion thread to not see a day of light soon after and get hit with the ol' "we don't have plans to do this" with no further discussion for at least a year which is just a insanely lame way of putting things sometimes despite community support and genuine good ideas + positives I see unjustly get denied, the dev team shouldn't be so selective and hell should allow more community contribution whether it be through providing resources to testing things on the dev server on changes that the community wants to see, not just purely what the developer wants to develop which is the attitude I see, this is more of a broader issue but I digress.

If you want to make a decent update for not just criminals but everyone else then instead of adding new guns, bring viability to all weapons by making them fit in with the current meta, a great example is the M4 buff that has been asked for many times as it used to be one of the pinnacle rifles to use until things got changed about 6 years ago I think and people moved on to using AK/SCAR (let's exclude the as50 cancer, we know how bad that one got and action was quick to be taken when it got that out of hand). You could also have extensive testing with the 'PvPers' of the server, aren't those your best guys to test things with? you already know who to exclude axaxa

Sure these things take a hell of a lot of time but we're patient enough to let things cook up so nothing game-breaking slides in through the cracks, I hope there's more transparency and openness to come out of this at least

I also wanna bring up something about 3.3. In few incidents I been in while raiding I seen people sit on crafting tables and shoot me while standing on it and when I try to report them for it I was told it was "allowed" many times. The only time I actually tell them it's not allowed they backdown and punish the person for it. I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble or make a fool out of myself I just wanted to bring that up but that's what I seen before during my time in perp.

How is this related? wouldn't you just make a report or create a staff complaint?

In @roos defense, gs9 recently been 5 maximum in past week, we still win and no one raids us its lowk boring.
I think Roos wants more diversity in who to raid rather than 3 orgs beefing each other bc that’s when it becomes toxic and it’s an actual competitive element which people are upset over, rather than 6+ orgs raiding people which no one focuses on.
ATM it feels like liquid V gs9 v SFG
