Suggestion Title: Make alarms less annoying
Suggestion Description: The alarms in perpheads are insanely annoying and loud dont get me wrong that is good in the way off knowing exampel your car getting stolen. But it gets too the point of allmost everyone atleast people who know uses stopsound to get rid of it. doing your chop chop without typing stopsound in console gives me the biggest headace. ofc im not asking for it to be removed just make it a little less annoying!

Why should this be added?:
- Stopping the need of "stopsound"
-My ears can rest easy

What negatives could this have?:
- People know having a little harder time of noticing the alarm
-

What problem would this suggestion solve?: The abouse and need of "Stopsound"

Yes at least add a slider to let us turn it down, its so insanely loud and overwhelming that I have to do stop sound or I internally explode.
And if I do stop sound I have no idea when the alarm ends or if it ended already ect.
I really do think something needs to be done regarding the alarms

+1
alarms are very painfully loud so at least just a volume slider for them would be very appreciated

Hmm, but wouldn't using stopsound technically provide an advantage that you shouldn't be using? Having a volume slider or using the stopsound command could arguably fall under Rule 6.2, as it allows you to alter the audio environment and potentially gain an advantage over another player.

The same could be said for the volume slider, as setting the volume lower or higher than another player could affect how clearly certain sounds are heard and therefore give you a better opportunity to take advantage of the situation. Under Rule 6.2, the main concern would be whether the tool (in this case the console) or setting is being used to create an advantage that other players may not have.

If anything as the suggestion says If audio is generally lowered for everyone I wouldn't see it being an issue, anyways I'll shut up and take my leave now.

mate it ain't that deep, it's a standard function on Garry's mod. it's not a software, script or macro. It's legit bedded into Garry's Mod there's no unfair advantage

But is it actually intended, through normal gameplay mechanics, that you should be using this feature during alarms and similar situations? I don't believe so. It also isn't a standard gameplay function; it is a console command, which is normally hidden from the average player. Considering the PERPHEADS player base, there are likely many new players who aren't even aware that the console exists, let alone that this command can be used.

Rule 6.2 prohibits the use of software, scripts, or other tools that provide an advantage over others. Using a console command specifically to remove or alter in-game sounds can provide an audible advantage over players who are not aware of or using the command. There is a reason similar functionality in games such as CS2 is restricted behind sv_cheats 1, it can be used to create an advantage that isn't intended as part of normal gameplay.

I'm perfectly gripped, mate. I'm just explaining my point, you're welcome to disagree with it. :cat::cat:

You're comparing a competitive fps shooter to a roleplaying server, there's a stark difference between the two. There's no advantage to using stopsound when you're stealing a car, if anything it puts you at a disadvantage. I also think your point about "the average player" is completely wrong, there's only a small minority of players on perpheads that don't know what a console is.

exactly that, I mean there's no advantage. Only IQ

You mean to tell me there's absolutely no competitiveness on PERPHEADS where audio plays an extremely important factor??! Frankly, I think you're extremely wrong here and seem to be overlooking how competitive the PERP environment is otherwise I must've been living under rocks since 2015 when I started playing.

The suggestion is specifically referring to alarms; it doesn't specify a particular type and only uses car alarms as an example. My opinion, however, was specifically directed towards a comment made about the volume slider, which is why I made my argument on the matter. I personally believe that being able to adjust the volume could create an unfair advantage when it comes to house alarms, which was the specific situation I had in mind.

(I suppose that's my fault for not being more specific, G.)

I also think your point about "the average player" is completely wrong, there's only a small minority of players on perpheads that don't know what a console is.

Hmm, I don't think you read my comment fully there. I specifically mentioned new players; I never mentioned the average player, so please don't make assumptions about what I said. Regardless of how large the affected player base may be, that doesn't change the underlying point. If a player knows about the console and its commands while a newer player doesn't even know the console exists, using a command that can provide an audible advantage can potentially create an unfair advantage. The number of players affected isn't really the point, it's the fact that the advantage exists in the first place.

I have said what I wanted to say, with that I rest my case

of course there is but car alarms is the main example made in the post, you're taking it way out of context.

"it is a console command, which is normally hidden from the average player." ????

"it is a console command, which is normally hidden from the average player." ????

Normally, the console is not enabled by default when you first install the game. It's hidden down at the bottom of the keybinds section and is unbound. On top of that, when you first open the console, you're not provided with a list of commands, because the console itself is a part of the game engine.

I think this discussion has gone on long enough, though. I'm still not entirely sure why you decided to attack my personal opinion in the first place, especially when the last thing I said in my original post was:

“If anything, as the suggestion says, if audio is generally lowered for everyone, I wouldn't see it being an issue. Anyways, I'll shut up and take my leave now.”

TL;DR: I'm not against the suggestion itself. I simply believe that if this is implemented, the audio change should be generalized for everyone rather than allowing individual players to use sliders to gain a potential advantage.

Thank you, I like to go into details! :cat:
